Firearm storage in your Z

Has anyone found a good place to store a full size pistol in the Z? I place my compact in the console and have though about trying a under the steering wheel mount but don't know if there's enough room, so any thoughts recommendations from anyone?

Same problem here in South Carolina!

DASITMANE 03-19-2016 05:35 PM

I have a mount under my steering wheel for my glock 21, works great.

That's what I was thinking, I was a little worried about being in the way shifting, maybe I will try it and if not give it to my father

JC-Nismo 03-19-2016 06:08 PM

We had a thread about this awhile back, check it out.

3032 tomcat in the cubby.

Multiple firearms on me.

M&P40 in my clubby. Cut a hole in the back so that the barrel sticks through. Open up the cluuby door and my hand on the grip. :D

Guns don't kill people. Stupid motherfuckers with guns kill people. England doesn't allow guns and for years has had a higher rate for all types of violence than the US or even South Africa. They may not have as many shootings, but they have tons more stabbings. I prefer longer range defense options than a pocket knife :twocents:

RonRizz 03-20-2016 06:19 AM

I keep mine next to my driving gloves...But its such a pain switching from driving gloves to shooting gloves in a rush, usually the perp gets away laughing..:shakes head::stirthepot:

Is this for real? You have your opinion, I have mine, thanks for the contribution to the thread

dvboy 03-20-2016 08:54 AM

Here in Canada I have NEVER seen a gun in a public place before in my 50 years,it's just not part of our culture.Don't think it's a coincidence our gun related casualties are significantly lower than in the US.

cjwsrt6 03-20-2016 09:30 AM

Gentlemen this wasn't a thread to discuss gun policies or what you feel is safer. I carry my firearm and that's my decision, I just wanted opinions about storage. Let's not get political about who thinks what should happen about guns

Sonny10MM 03-20-2016 09:45 AM

I carry on me and try not to go where I'm not wanted.

:iagree:

My HK VP40 fits perfectly in the glove box but of course it's not readily available. I like that under the steering wheel option though.

jwick 03-20-2016 10:24 AM

I drive with mine in my lap. If I need to store it I place it in the glovebox because it locks.

Course I drive a G so not sure if the Z box locks.

I put my HK P30 in the slot behind the passanger seat.

MarkGideon 03-20-2016 03:15 PM

My preferred carry gun is a S&W Bodyguard 38 revolver. Since it is a smaller gun, if it is not on me, in its holster it fits easily in the glove box. Laws here require if you do not have a concealed carry permit, it needs to be in a closed compartment.

I haven't tried storage locations for any of my larger guns since none of those are as comfortable to carry concealed. I usually leave them at home when I am out in the Z.

cjwsrt6 03-20-2016 06:16 PM

I think I'm going to try the under steering wheel mount, I want to be able to get to mine and the glove box and back compartment are not within quick reach. I may figure a mount and put it right behind the passenger seat since I have people in my car often. Thanks for the ideas guys

Sensei Kreese 03-20-2016 06:26 PM

If you go to the car wash or valet your car can the gun be easily stolen?

If I do anything like that I put my firearm on my waist or backpack

Duc_Z09 03-20-2016 10:47 PM

My .45 1911 stays within easy reach of my bed. If I feel I need a gun when I'm driving I'll just run the MF over.

i do the same with my glock 19. alien gear cloak 2.0 iwb is always on me unless i'm on post. if im going somewhere that doesnt allow firearms i leave it at home. i know there are some great options for small safes that can accomodate vehicles but i'm skeptical of leaving it in the car regardless.

No need for a mount in the car. It's on my waist

I have shotgun rack mounted on my Genny, F350 style. Kidding. S&W .45 is in huge glove box. With insurance stuff-smart.

beauty of living in georgia is you can almost bring it anywhere you want if you have a permit.

I usually carry on my person, but the under the steering wheel setup seems like a decent choice. With that said, I am constantly amazed how well full sized bolties, my ptr-91, AR, and shotguns all seem to disappear behind the Z's seats.

BrianMSmith 03-23-2016 11:52 PM

shoulder holster

Sonny10MM 03-26-2016 06:52 PM

I like a shoulder holster too especially when I'm driving. Being right handed, a seat belt will cross over my pistol on my right hip plus it will tend to poke into the seat on pistols with 4" or longer barrels. A shoulder holster is easier to reach with a full size pistol and I don't like to carry small pistols that are harder to shoot.
