New 370z Nismo owner question

Well I pulled the trigger tonight. Car was delievered to my door. I had to get comprehensive insurance through Geico for the car.

Also Nissan offered me the extended factory warranty. which I got it but the dealer did say I could cancel it anytime. It added 40$ to my monthly payments.

Does anyone know if Geico's Mechanical Breakdown Insurance is better or equal to the Nissan extended warranty? Geico is cheaper but I'm not sure which one I should cancel. What is the standard warranty that comes with the car out of the door?

Please if anyone has some advice let me know. I need to cancel one of them since there is no point in having 2 policies covering the same thing.

Also...the car is a beast. I have been getting compliments left and right. Is an amazing car. I will be posting pics tomorrow.

1st off Welcome to the site! 2nd A factory warranty will always be better than a 3rd party one. 3rd and this is just my opinion, extended warranties are a waste of money.

With that being said... In case you don't already know.. You can purchase extended warranty anytime before the standard warranty expires (no need to rush). You can also buy nissan's ext warranties from any nissan dealer, so shop around as prices vary.

$40 bucks a month extra? Sorry to say, it sounds like you payed too much for this warranty as well. Remember it's not only the salesperson you have to be wary of.. The sharks in the finance office are the real evil you should watch out for. ;)

Also bear in mind in most cases even if you cancel the Nissan ext warranty, your monthly payment won't be $40 bucks less, they just subtract it from your total payments. EG: Your loan is shortened. Hence if you have to finance..Don't let them add little things like destination, gap and warranties etc.. to your loan, the smallest things can add up with interest. Should always pay cash for those.

Hope I wasnt a downer, don't mean to be. So congrats on your new ride! Enjoy!

I'm just passing this along, extended warranty is up to you.

I don't buy ext warranties upfront either.

Mainly because if car shows a lot of prob while in warranty, I just sell it before warranty expires and get something else.

i honestly don't remember if i purchased one for my dirty girl. probably not.

Congrats on the Nismo and welcome :tiphat:

As others have said: :pics:

As for advice, I would cancel both the Nissan extended warranty and geico's extra coverage. Your standard warranty is enough for the car and you can keep your insurance premiums to a minimum.

Thanks for the advice. I have canceled Geico's extra coverages. I'll cancel the extended warranty this week. Do I have to do it through the dealership? I read some where that I can send a letter to the Nissan warranty department with the mileage.

Does anyone know why there is some sort of clank sound coming from the back or the middle of the car when gear is changed? Usually happens when I don't change the gear smoothly.

Here is a pic of the car.

:iagree: Debadge those immediately.

The "clank", if you're only referring to 1st->2nd has been discussed extensively on these forums. It's as normal, yet annoying. If you shift kinda slow, it's non-existent, and I've never experienced it while shifting into any other gear.

We have clunky transmissions, usually happens when you go from 1st to 2nd while the car is under load, its a part of the allure of the Z :icon17:
