My dad won't use she'll or arco cuz apparently he's gotten bad gas at those places in the past and caused major problem. But meh

Yeah I fell the same hahaha pretty much why I haven't given them a go X) but dude try it out your self. Fill up maybe half a tank of arco and burn through that. Pay extra attention to everything. How well the car picks up speed, launch behavior and overall smoothness of power gain. And then do the same with the Chevron, or other gas of your choice, and give it a little test :) you SHOULD notice a slight difference. I've felt my BMW and Z be sluggish when using arco and other not so popular brands.

But again that's just me brotha don't take my word for it try it your self! :)

You're welcome. I also get a lot of useful informations from this forum.

Let me explain what I've experienced more in detail. I had purchased my Z in the early 2012, and from the first I just had put the cheapest gas as found anywhere nearby. At that time I had no idea about the fuel additives, I just wanted to pay less as possible for very expensive gas prices at that time. (It included Arco, but I must have visited many non-top tier cheap gas stations I guess - of course always premium though  )

Later one day I found out I got to have somewhat lower throttle on my Z especially when I try full acceleration for zero to sixty entering freeway from local. So what I did was that I put a Valvoline and Techron (by the Chevron you know) engine system cleaner to my Z, and very soon I got back its whole faster response as I had at the first time.

My last report from Blackstone says the engine looks in pretty good condition now.

By myself I've tested many brands of premium gas (like 76, Shell, Chevron, Mobil .. etc) to my Z, but as a result interestingly I found out that I had the best performance with Arco premium (it is by my subjective feeling, not by any objective measure). If it is true, it must be because my engine already got used to the Arco gas, so other Zs might go different.

As I know any engine is supposed to get used to a specific brand of gasoline because of its different additives. I think Arco gas is okay, but what matters is that you really need to put high octane - I mean premium gas to your Z.

I agree Shell or Chevron are more expensive and maybe better than Arco, but absolutely Arco premiums should work far better than those regulars on your Z.

Or if you want to take care of your engine better, you can also try those engine system cleaners. I cannot guarantee it would work to your engine, but it really worked to mine when it was little messed up with putting cheap gas. (I recommend you to be careful to choose what engine cleaner to use, because bad cleaners might do harm to your engine)

:)

Dear Thor! Where did you seen that!? Hahaha I gotta go now! Lol I've heard of a couple of rare stations that do carry it but it's like legendary **** that you need a master ball for! Hahaha they're out there but requires ridiculous travel times and maybe elevated costs and I think it's considered like for racing only. Not sure how it all goes down...

Placebo effect. Retail gas all comes from the same refineries. The only difference is the additive packages like techron, etc.

Haha just found my nearest station with 100 octanes it's 143 miles away from me and it costs $9.93 for 9/10 of a gal. Hahahah yeah by the time I get home I'll have to fill up again XD.

arco gas?

People overthink gas. It all comes from the same place. The thing you should be concerned about is the gas station, not the gas. Are the tanks ok? Does it get enough traffic so the premium doesn't just sit for long periods of time and absorb condensation?

In addition, 99% of octane boosters and fuel treatments don't work. Techron concentrate is one of the few cleaners that makes a difference. Octane boosters might turn your tank of 91 into 91.2. Toluene will boost octane very well, but it's not cheap anymore.

We have a refinery in town. It's commonplace to see tankers from the different brands in the area filling up at the same rack.

Shell or BP(old Amoco). Chevron does not run well for me. Turbo cars find so so gas real quick. The tanks at the station make a big difference. No old stations for me.

You don't hear about class action lawsuits against Arco, such as people complaining that it ruined their cars, right? Well, then that's where I take it.

I don't think there is any nuance if at all when comparing cheap gas to brands like Mobil or Shell. There is no in-depth analysis that proves this....I could understand if you drove a higher end car $60K+ like a C7 or 991, but c'mon. These are Nissans meant for common people. I used to ride 2-stroke pocket bikes, and guys would buy $30 2-stroke cycle oil versus $6 weed whacker ones, thinking they had "Ferrari engineered" weed whacker, leaf blower motors on their China-made pocket bikes. And it's not like they were faster on the tracks; it just smelled a little better.

To each his own I guess.
