H pipe vs y pipe ?

What's the difference in the h pipe vs y pipe? Any difference in sound or horsepower? I wanted to do a exhaust maybe fast intentions or something else. ... am I able to do exhaust and have a y pipe or h pipe ?

H-pipe flows better, and causes a true-dual setup with each cylinder bank having it's own full exhaust.

X>=h>y

i think a majority of Z exhaust use the X design. Also there is true dual pipes as an option as well :)

So there is a x pipe,h pipe, and a y pipe ?

or go no crossover for actual true duals :stirthepot:

A Y pipe design is fine, but an H or X pipe will flow better, especially when boosted, unless of course you get AAM's cannon sized 4" single exhaust.

A Y-pipe is just a two-into-one (similar to a header for a 2-cyl engine). You end up with one exhaust pipe from the Y on back.

H- and X-pipes are for dual exhaust setups. Sometimes referred to as "equalizer pipes". X-pipes, when properly designed/installed, seem to have a slight performance edge over H-pipes but I haven't seen any comparison tests.

If you have to ask about a Z-Pipe, you're not ready.

I am assuming that diameter also plays a factor - Example The tomei single exhaust produce decent gains and that is a y pipe - 3 inch diameter if I remember.

I'm a fan of the O-Pipe
