got pulled over. got away?

Ok so long story short... I was parked on a main rd... pulled out of the street...my car is loud so it attracts attention, 20 seconds go by, I see the red and blues behind me...so pulled over license&registration... he said I crossed the middle line, I know I didn't but politely told the officer that I definitely didn't, he went to the car wrote me out a careless driving and handed me it. I talked to him and told him how much of a wrench this ticket will be in my life and he actually took the summons back and warned me. Any sketchyness? I'm very blessed that he did it, I just hope I don't end up with a warrant that he handed his copy in, and I didn't show up in court. Kinda still worried. It wasn't digital.any experience?

If you didn't sign (manual or digital) anything, no worries.

True. I didn't sign anything... I just don't want to get pulled over on day and find out that I'm a suspended driver and what not. Hopefully all will be okay this got me bugging

wait a few days and call the municipal court for that area to check.

In NJ you don't need to sign anything to get a ticket. If he took the ticket back he just tore up that ticket and you don't have a ticket. But if you want to double check, treat it as a lost ticket and contact to municipal court where the ticket was issues.

:iagree:

Don't give them any details, just tell them you lost your copy. Hopefully, they will tell you they can't find it in their system.

Trueeee! I didn't think about just calling the municipal I think it'll be appropriate to call them sometime next week? I'm praying that he didn't hand it in even after telling me to give h ok my back the summons and he gave me a warning. I'm very blessed that he did that for me, and I owe him big time. But on the other hand it's possible it can still go thru

There's no "sketch" going on he gave you a break. You don't need to call or check, I've voided more tickets than I can remember for more reasons than I can remember. Think about this: I stop a guy in a Corvette for going 95 in a 35 on laser coming over a hill. When I walk up I'm smiling and shaking my head because we both knew I got him honest. The Vette was a rental he was taking back to fly out from the airport. I smiled and told him the only thing that could help him is if he drove a Prius every day. As he was pulling out his license he handed me a Texas registration showing that he owned a Prius. I handed him back his stuff and told him to keep it at 15 over and watch out for idiots. He did't believe me until I walked away and went to shoot the next line of cars.

You're fine.

It's not sketch. Don't worry about the ticket you're fine

In Ontario Canada careless driving is also a criminal offense and not just a driving offense. Not sure about down there but it really can't be that much of a hassle to check. Better safe than finding out later and getting a bigger fine or having your car impounded. Still driving over the line doesn’t constitute careless driving and would most likely get thrown out in court so maybe he did tear it up.

In Louisiana, "Careless Operation" is a Traffic Statute (Revised Statute 32:58) while "Reckless Operation" is a Criminal Offense (Revised Statute 14:99)- So, have fun, just don't go nuts...:driving::tup:
