Is this AAM COMPETITION SHORT TAIL EXHAUST sticking out too much?

Just installed the AAM Competition short tail exhaust.

The tips seems to be sticking out too much (about 0.5 inches from the bumper).

Any thoughts?

Zbrah 02-10-2016 12:17 AM

Normal. I've seen worse.

axmea? 02-10-2016 01:35 AM

That's fine.

YamahaR6 02-10-2016 07:32 AM

This definitely seems more flushed. No?

cooltoy 02-10-2016 08:53 AM

That's almost too far in.

They could have shortened it.

2011 Nismo#91 02-10-2016 08:59 AM

Looks further out then normal, but does it look bad?

YamahaR6 02-10-2016 09:04 AM

Wouldn't say it looks bad, but I want to keep it flushed with the bumper (as AAM advertise it).

2011 Nismo#91 02-10-2016 09:57 AM

Call them up then and see what they say.

YamahaR6 02-10-2016 10:09 AM

This is the retailer response:

"looks normal here, they do stick out a hair further than stock, but that's just by design"

Doesn't look like a hair further to me.

YamahaR6 02-10-2016 10:12 AM

Can anyone post their setup here to compare?

Thanks in advance.

Google image search 370z aam short tail, plenty of shots

Zbrah 02-10-2016 02:40 PM

Aren't the tips adjustable?

batman_4 02-10-2016 02:58 PM

Doesn't AAM offer for Nismo and non-Nismo models? I would think if that is true, the Nismo model tips would be longer to compensate for the Nismo bumper....sooo maybe you have Nismo model tips?

Tips look good though, as mentioned previously, they look good

2011 Nismo#91 02-10-2016 03:00 PM

Nismo tips are just a different diameter from what I understand. The tips are adjustable but they only have so much adjustment, I'm assuming the OP adjusted them back as far as allowed.

:tiphat:

You got it!

YamahaR6 02-10-2016 03:48 PM

Contacted AAM directly, hope they can figure something out.

I had a similar issue but only with one side (driver I believe) was slightly longer than the other side.

I adjusted both tips to make them even. So I have one tip pushed all the way in and the other as far out as it can go.

I might trim the longer side down in the future but overall it looks good. (also seems the same distance from the bumper as yours.)

YamahaR6 02-10-2016 04:28 PM

Thanks for sharing.

Did you contact AAM? Any response from them?

SS_Firehawk 02-10-2016 05:01 PM

These tips are generally adjustable. Just move them

YamahaR6 02-10-2016 05:31 PM

I ready adjusted them to the closest to the pipes; but still sticking out.

cooltoy 02-10-2016 06:35 PM

Can you dremmel the slots more to allow them to slide back further?

I would rather not. I just expected it to fit like they advertised.

That looks perfect to me
I have nismo tips and they look good

Zbrah 02-11-2016 09:27 PM

Maybe its further out in real life but from these pictures I don't see it being that bad

Z&I 02-11-2016 10:29 PM

You got'em in backwards ...

YamahaR6 02-12-2016 01:42 AM

It doesn't look terrible, but I would prefer it less sticking out.

Contacted AAM and hope they response.

37zeroZ 02-12-2016 05:08 PM

Mine are just like yours, 1/2 inch out measured looking straight down from the bumper to the tip. They are a bit further out than stock, but with the burnt tips I like the look.

kenchan 02-12-2016 06:34 PM

yah, definitely sticking out too far for my taste too.

the other one on the earlier page is too short. should just get the fujimura cans. that u only need to do minor vertical adjustment.

kenchan 02-12-2016 06:37 PM

i had the same issue almost an inch difference between left and right, also one was higher than the other. finally had to go to a muffler shop to trim and adjust to make them even.

Did you try contacting aam?

I emailed them twice but there's no response so far.

yes i emailed them and got a response fairly quick, they wanted me to remove them and send them back so they could research the issue. for me that was to costly and time consuming so i took it to a shop and fixed it myself.
