Sad story, different car and moving on...
Wife wanted to trade her 2010 Prius with 80k miles for a new car. She preferred a Mazda 6 but because a local Honda dealer was getting rid of new 2015 Civics, got her one, saved about $3k. She pretended to like it but I could tell she was disappointed.
A couple of weeks later, had driven down to Tunica in my 2013 sports packet with about 33k miles. A night of gambling where I lost a couple of thousand dollars, driving back home at 9:00 a.m. after a night where I did not sleep, thinking about the wonderful wife, I pulled into the local Mazda dealer. Did not make a very good deal, traded even with a 2016 Mazda 6. The wife was delighted that I got her a Mazda 6, but did not feel it right that I was now going to drive a Civic. A week later, she insisted I give the Civic to my daughter, take her 2008 Yaris (128k miles) and trade it in for a car that I liked. I went back to the Mazda dealer where my 370Z was on sale for $23.5k. I told the dealer I had traded it for a 2016 Mazda 6 that was for under $20k, that I would pay him $20.5k or $19.5 and the Yaris. The ******* refused, did not want the Yaris, wanted $23k for my car. I was upset but could not find a 2013 370z sports or touring in the area. Luckily, I saw an add for a 2013 Genesis Couple, R-Spec, bright red with red leather seat and 26k miles for $19.9k. I was able to get it for $16050 plus my Yaris. I liked the 370Z but now, having driven the Genesis Coupe R Spec, I am quite happy. I dont know about performance comparisons but as a daily driver for a guy that is 6'4", it is more spacious and comfortable, the stock radio is of better quality, the back seat and trunk helps and the performance as a daily driver is better. The 6 speed turned out to be better than I thought. I like the looks of the 370Z more but the bright red and the red leather seats also attract as much attention as my old gun metal 370Z. I dont want to get into a discussion bashing one or the other car. I think they are both great and the 2013 370Z has the better re-sale value. I also like this forum better than the Gencoupe forum that does not have as much activity going daily. Its been fun being on this forum the past year. Warm regards. |
I like the gen coupe, but those back seats dont really help anyone besides small children and midgets....still congrats on the purchase and hope you have fun with it :)

sorry to hear you couldn't get your Z back - THAT sucks. As for what you got instead, nice ride man. How does the Gen handle in the curves, and how is the acceleration compared to the Z?
|
Wow. So many bad life choices in this post.

I have much respect for the Genny, been there done that with the Z. Good for you and congrats on the new purchase yo! |
Next time tell your wife to be honest in her decisions. Couldve saved you a few thousand bucks. But hey it happens. Glad youre happy with your purchase.

Respectfully, your wife must be smoking hot.
On a more serious note, nice to see how much you love your wife. |

And no, I guess I don't really love my wife, LOL. |
Odd turn of events to say the least. Nice pickup. You wont notice the performance difference on the street at all. Though depending on highways runs you might appreciate the extra grunt it has up top, IMO the only slight performance advantage it has on a stock 370. Oh that and the stock exhaust-its truly gnarly for a $30K stock V6. Plus its more comfy as a DD. I personally would have went with a '13-'14 GT/Ultimate with 8AT so you get all the techno goodies.
|
WOW... I would rather get rid of my wife before the Z.. You can always find another wife...
|
deja vu. when I was car shopping I was looking at the z and genesis. I tested both of these and others and decided the z was for me. I bought a gun met 2012 and love it but the genesis r spec I drove was also bright red. the only thing I don't like about my z was I couldn't find a red one in as good of shape, 4 out of my last 5 cars were red. but i'm happy and hopefully you will be too. good luck op.

There is a GenCouoe forum? Go figure.
|
Like the gencoupe a lot. It handles very well. Hard to discern it's disadvantages till trying to find its limits. But as a daily, I guess you're actually winning over the Z.
The flip side is, you gotta understand the Z's intended purpose. I can daily it fine if need be but it's not intended to be that convenient of a car. |
Am I the only one confused by "A night of gambling where I lost a couple of thousand dollars" and 3K was the deal breaker for getting the wife a civic she didn't really want and then 3K again for not getting his Z back. I might quit the gambling and see how life starts going. Might be in for a pleasant surprise.

This story is gonna end something like "Yea...I dont know whos kitchen floor I woke on! But my boxers were stuffed with 4 rolls of quarters and a pair of break-away leather chaps were on the chair."

You're not a pro. Far from it. :rofl2: Saved money on trade-in. Blew it gambling. Felt guilty about blowing the money. Dropped a lot more cash on trading in and buying cars just to please your wife. :icon14: Talk about being impulsive!

I test drove Genesis coupe years ago and it felt like a truck transmission was used. It sucked so I passed and got a G35 sport instead. Maybe they've improved, but I steer clear of them altogether now.
|
Before my Z, I was debating between the Z, Frs (asian parents didn't know what Subaru is but when told toyota, they are ok with it. Corolla generation I tell you), and Genesis. I tested all 3 and loved all 3. Problem is frs is too low for a 6'1 guy and I don't drive like a Mustang owner with 1 hand on wheel and leaning back.
Genesis felt good but ultimatel, like the frs, the two seats in back are practically a small place to store groceries and backpack. I'd rather walk then for a friend to drive me while I sit in back of one of those cars. Last reason for not getting neither of those car is that in San Jose, almost all who drive brz, frs, genesis are fUK bois. Ultimately leaves me with the never regret choice. |
I had a 2010 Genesis Coupe 3.8 before my Z.
The genesis self destructed one night, woke up at 1:30 am from a loud noise and my lil red Genesis was on fire. Fire department said no sign of foul play. Death by suicide! |

[QUOTE=Fuzzzy;3408479]I suppose you are a part-time pro used car dealer as well?
All the gang at Blackjack: The Forum and Wong's Green Chip would be delighted for you to let them know that you are now a part-time pro! [Edit: comment is directed at OP, but relevant to this reply.] Not this guy! Ask him to regale you with tales of his shoebox combination bank/accounting/money-management system. It will be well-worth it.[/QUOTE For your stupid information, ZeeBabar is a common last name just as Jones or Smith is in the USA. You can find it in countries such as the Ivory Coast, Malta, Algeria etc. You must be confusing me with someone else. I play poker, know nothing about Blackjack or any such games. I play private games, not casino games. |
This is why I don't impulse buy, ever.
But glad it worked out and you're happy |

In OP's case the first part of his statement is laughable but the second part is quite true! I don't have the need to do so, but I'm almost certain that a search of this forum will unearth a previous post of his regarding his blackjack winnings. Quote:
