Complete Repaint to Different Color?
I'm toying with the idea of going from Pearl White to Monterey Blue. I love my Pearl White with the Persimmon Interior but I think the Monterey Blue + Persimmon looks really sharp as well.
Has anyone ever had their 370Z or 350Z completely repainted including all the non-displayed areas of the body panels? I am curious as to what such a (quality) paint job costs and the average turn-around time? |
It's a crazy idea that, in no way would ever make any financial sense. In fact, it would de-value your car in the long run. If you are hell bent on changing the color, you'd be better served (at least financially speaking) to choose a custom color that Nissan does not offer. Otherwise, it'll come off as a collision repair or a brain fart -- the latter being what you described.

:iagree:. That's a lot of money, and I'd choose a totally different color!

Another way to look at it would be to sell your car, take the hit, and buy a Monterrey Blue replacement (perhaps gently used or a 2009 holdover). You can take the money you'd spend on a re-paint and put it into buying (or better, trading, the seats) if you can't find one with Persimmon interior.
I guarantee you will make out better in the long run, if not in the immediate transaction. |
lambo orange :D love that color

I vote the purple that Vishnu paints on their cars.

What if painting your entire car the same color but a different shade so you don't have to paint the hidden parts?
|
my car is repainted lambo gunmetal

If you want the Monterey Blue, just trade your car without de-valuing it so much.
|
You'd spend $4-5k for a good paint job and you're car will be worth $4-5k less as well! It wouls work out to the same as trading it in for a new one, so either do something custom that you love, or find a slightly pre-owned and you'll be better off!

Of course they wouldn't let me drive them since I'm not the owner, but it was cool enough just to see them! |
It cost me 8000 to get custom paint color change on my corvette, and most of the body work was already done. Thats for a paint job with 5 coats of clear and wetsanded though, standard repaint would have been 4500, and the corvette is a lot easier to do a color change on than a 370z, because most of the hidden parts are unpainted composite material.

I was tempted to just do a repaint on my black Z to a decent black. The factory paint job sucks.
I figured that resale would just go down though, so it doesn't seem worth it... |

If anyone is interested, here is that car's website. Its got GTM TT kit on the VQ35HR http://frenzyproject.com/ |
wow 50K for that Z and 8k for the vette... they both do look it was worth it... yeah, i guess i would still suggest vinyl wrap... i think somebody here quoted it to be around 2k to 3k... and u get to take it off if you want to sell ur car and no additional depreciation on cost of the car...
|
yea, I have been thinking about getting the 370 wrapped in flat black. Its starting to get beat up from track use with only 3500 miles on the car (about 1000 on track).

Simple remedy, take your car back to the dealer and arrange a part exchange and for a price cheaper than that of a respray you'll get a new car in the colour you want! |
