What Radar Detector do you use on your Z ??

I have owned a passport 9500ix from 2012, and it has worked pretty good. I love its blue LED with the red gauges on dashboard.

Nowadays there are many false alerts on K band by many RDs for new cars with Collision Avoidance System and Blind Spot Monitoring, etc..

What RD have you used, or any recommended RD you might suggest ??

:D

i have the 9500i. i turned off the X and K bands because of so many false readings. Try that.

I go with the ANX (auto no X) mode, and actually do not need the K band detection because I do not overspeed at local here in California.

Usually I only use my RD for Ka band detection on freeway/highway, but I just want to enjoy all of its basic features except for X band.

Escort passport radar Max. Have everything turned off except for KA. Might turn X back on because cops around here still use it for some stupid reason

Valentine One.

I just recently purchased the latest version with the K-band junk fighter (basically eliminates false alarms). The K-band junk fighter really works. I know this because my old radar detector was a Valentine One which I used for over 15 years. I still have my old one and will send it off to Valentine to refurbish then I'll probably give it to one of my daughters.

If you want the best go with a Valentine One :drops mic:

Where do you mount your detector? In my previous car I mounted it above the rearview mirror. It was out of sight for anyone looking in the car from the outside, but clearly visible to the driver and clear lines of sight to the front, sides and rear. Obviously with the Z the rear (and possibly side) visibility is limited if you mount it above the mirror.

I don't like it mounted above the 3-pod gauges, but I don't know where else in the Z it could possibly go.

As in the photo, I put my RD just above those three gauges using windshield mount with suction cups.

At first it was hard for me to get the exact spot of suction attached, but now I can do it rather easily. It is mounted in very stable condition if attached well.

If you put your RD near the rear-view mirror, it would be good for your RD to detect coming radar signals on its high position, but in the opposite it is pretty bad to get laser detection.

Usually LEOs would aim at your number plate and the threatening lasers (speed gun) emit by very narrow width/height.

Actually in most cases it will be too late for you to beat it when you get the alert unless you have additional laser defense kit installed, but anyway you'd better put your RD (Radar and Laser Detector) close to your number plate as possible if you want laser detection.

;)

* Be careful. In some states the laser defense kits are illegal.

V1 or stay on the porch.

Used to have Escort shifters as well. Didn't need them often, but they did me well.

I'm running a 9500ix but want to upgrade to the MAX 360 soon... The only reason for upgrade is the 9500ix's inability to deal with all the k-band trash from other cars. I guess I could just turn K band off though.. I've never seen a LEO use it.

I had Laser Interceptors on my 350z and they were awesome... I've got an Antilaser Priority waiting to go in on my 370z sometime this summer.
