Looking at a 2011 370z, What do you guys think of this car?

Hey,

I think I found a 370z that looks pretty good. The dealer is only 75 miles away from me. It sure beats finding something 1000 miles away, flying there, and driving it back. It's being serviced right now, so the sales guy sent me these quick phone pics.It looked pretty clean inside. The stats are as follows:

Year: 2011
Mileage: 18k
One Owner
Sport Pkg

So the price...they are asking $20,999 which seems fair. I would've preferred a 2013, but they are priced $2-3k more. Anyway, what do you guys think? Sounds reasonable? Anything I should look out for?

This could be the one! :happydance:

that exhaust looks aftermarket.

u know about cars? if so, have them put it up on a lift and check underneath to see wat else the original owner did to the car..

I noticed the exhaust as well. Even the shifter is aftermarket. It's probably not a big deal, but you never know.

I know a few things about cars, but the 370z is new to me. Anything underneath the car that I can check out by myself?

mishuko 01-05-2016 03:42 PM

the lower price seems a bit sketchy to me than the average market price. blacked out fog light (not a hard thing to do) has me suspecting the owner tinkered with the car as well.

carfax on the car? (atleast it's a starting point albeit may not be super up to date)

kenchan 01-05-2016 04:09 PM

did the 11's come with the blacked out rear dummy fog? my 09 came with the tinted dummy which i later replaced with a JDM working lamp.

as for checking undercarriage, i would bring a picture of the factory 370z exhaust and compare it with the Z u plan to buy. might not be just the muffler/catback that was changed.

Breadz 01-05-2016 04:16 PM

my 2012 foglight looks identical to the one in this pic

The salesperson indicated that there are no blemishes or scratches on the car. But, the headlights have minor fading, not sure if that's normal for 370z or not.
The driver's seat has a couple of wrinkles. It has a nice clean carfax.

pics below

It's one of those things that I just need to see it in person.....

kenchan 01-05-2016 04:25 PM

the haze on the lens is not normal, but you can polish it.

never understood the hazing.. my 12yr old G35C has no hazing and i use that car sometimes for dd'ing in the summer months.
probably from auto carwashes.

Breadz 01-05-2016 04:25 PM

looks like a good deal

kenchan 01-05-2016 04:26 PM

btw, my 09 Z with 18k+ miles looks newer :rofl2:

I always worry about buying cars with mods when I don't know who owned it and did the wrench work. Guys start modding and start driving harder a lot times.

:iagree: I would rather start with complete stock vehicle but that is not always an option. If you go to look at it, maybe try to hit up a couple local members to look it over with you. I believe you should never buy a vehicle alone. The more eyes the better as somtimes it's easy to overlook things when blinded by excitement. ;)

Ck. in-service date for warranty; milage is low & factory powertrain warranty is 5/60k.
My 11' has over 66k on it & running stronger than ever. :)

zaimer 01-05-2016 08:30 PM

Fairly cheap price..with low miles. Looks to be in decent shape. Has pretty heavy seat wear for less than 20k miles :icon14:.

I personally would not even consider buying it just because it has (slight?) modifications done to it.. just my :twocents:. Not my thing.

i don't have any haze either... i can see some dust inside though and i am getting OCD

my mom's car has haze developing though but she parks under tree's that sap for years :shakes head:. i might try to do a lense clean up for her in summer if she doesn't get a new ride

D.Rock 01-06-2016 12:33 PM

My headlights are extremely hazy, but my poor car lives outside in the brutal South Florida sun. :shakes head:

yah, could be!

ramoszx12r 01-06-2016 01:58 PM

Looking good nice.

God-Speed 01-06-2016 07:31 PM

Being a 6-speed check out the trans. and the clutch. Have the dealership's service dept. run the vin# and check the CSC. Good luck with the car, hope things work out!!

Malm 01-06-2016 07:56 PM

try not to overthink it. Just make sure to get a warranty, drive it like you stole it for a little bit just in case something could brake..

then enjoy it. Exhaust mods and little cosmetic stuff shouldn't be a dealbreaker

GrooveStyle 01-06-2016 10:35 PM

Not deal breakers, but definitely something that gives you bargaining power. It's hard for dealers to move modded cars for the reasons already mentioned. If you want this specific car, use that to your advantage to get the best price possible.
