Help with leather seats?
I am about to purchase my new Z, finally . I wanted the Sport package (obviously), but I wanted heated leather seats as well. (female friend prefers to have heated seats too). However, I am not willing to pay the extra money to have the touring package, as I can get just the heated seats much cheaper.
Basically it comes down to two options. They are supposed to cost the same (1,600~1,700). I have heard great things about the Katzkin, but I think I would like to have factory look. Option 1: Katzkin leather, heated seats, vinyl wrapped door panels, installation. Option 2: OEM leather, heated seats, alcantara door panels, installation. |
I don't like Katzkin at all. Never have. How much is the price difference in the touring package? I only ask because the last time I checked the leather seat covers were like 1500+ each from the dealer. If the cost is the same, i would go with option 2.

I would not be getting the touring package..I don't see the need any paying for the pointless "extras". I can buy the OEM (touring) heated leather, and alcantarra door panels for the same price as getting the Katzkin. |

I have the Katzkin leather seats, and love them. I've had the car for several years and the leather has held up well.

Does the dealer do OEM leather? I didn't know that was an option?

I did two-tone katzskin leather on my Tacoma a few years ago and love it. Still look great and I saved money and installed them myself. Not a bad route at all

You have far more serious problems than heated seats if you are letting your woman have any sort of input on your Z's configuration. Seriously. You should not even give her the slightest hint or whiff that her approval/input is sought, appropriate or welcome. |
I bought some leather seat covers on ebay couple of years ago and the quality is much better than oem cause it was Italian leather. Was 800.00 but well worth it installed it myself. Had to take off the existing cloth for oem fit...almost 3 years old leather still looks new.

If you are going to use the car in the winter then get the heater seat.

Sooo.......... who's car is it? Yours or hers?
If you're not married then she has NO say so on what you buy. The woman that I was dating at the time told me "If you buy the Z over that BMW that I like more then it could be a deal breaker between us". I bought the Z and she went out the door. Buy the car with the options that makes you happy and can afford and don't appease others in that decision. You're the one who has to drive and pay for it. :tiphat: |

Soon to be married... :rofl2:. I too, would like leather seats in the Z. My last 370z had the touring package, and my current Q60 has leather (obviously). I would prefer to have heated leather, but I don't want to pay the extra to have the touring package on a new Z. In my area, I would be looking at adding an additional $7-8K on top of the Sport package price...and that's IF I can find one. |

If anyone else looks to the thread, I have a set of black OEM touring heated leather seats I'd be happy to sell and happy to install at no extra cost around DC or the Mid-Atlantic. They are plug and play in all 370Z (wiring is already present in non-touring models).
Door panels too. |
