2012 -2014 changes

Forgive all of my questions as I continue my search for a Z.

Looking at 12s - 13s.

Looks like the 13s and 14s added led lights in the bumper. Any other changes?

What about the Nismo? Don't see any differences cosmetically.

cooltoy 12-25-2015 02:06 PM

Non nismo, just the front bumper change (no fangs, DRLs).
Nismo - paint scheme (grey bottom, red lines).

Nixin 12-25-2015 02:48 PM

New 19" style Rays wheels replaced the Rays 5 star type on the Touring/Sport.

Did all of the changes (Nismo and non Nismo) take place in 2013? 2013 and 14 are the same?

Nismo adds body kit and some power - anything else that a sport doesn't have?

Yes.

Yes. So are 2015 and 2016 non-nismo.

And different exhaust, wheels as well as suspension. However Nismo pre 2015 does not have nave or leather seats.

greenlawnraci 12-25-2015 04:55 PM

Ok, so there is this:

2012 Nissan 370Z NISMO, $26,789 - Cars.com

Or for the same price or less you get a newer car with less miles:

2014 Nissan 370Z Base, $23,587 - Cars.com

If I get the Nismo I'm getting more power, better suspension, exhaust, and a body kit - correct? Giving up age, mileage, and refreshed bumper?

Chuck33079 12-25-2015 06:30 PM

If the base doesn't have the sport package, skip it. Make sure whatever you end up with has the sport package unless you're planning to mod the hell out of it right off the bat.

I don't think that's a base. That looks like a sport package to me. Spoiler, wheels and large brakes.

Chuck33079 12-25-2015 07:03 PM

I was speaking in general, I didn't click the link. If that's the case I'm buying the newer one over the older nismo.

Mine is a base with the sport spoiler. Has the sports appearance option.

Didn't know such a thing existed. Does it have the wheels as well? Only way to truly confirm the sport package is the rev match button?

Base + sport is what I'm looking for, just happened to stumble across this Nismo.

Good feedback. Just don't feel like the Nismo has much to offer?

cooltoy 12-25-2015 07:34 PM

For the extra money you can get an FI exhaust (much better then the Nismo), a Stillen CA intake and a used body kit of your choice (a reproduction).

No, it still has the 18's. Look up the VIN to be certain.

cooltoy 12-25-2015 08:11 PM

It does? The pictures are wrong?

This one has the Akebonos and the 19 sport wheels?

I've tried to find sites with vin decoders and had no luck. Got a link?

Look at the grade. Should say w/ sport. Good thru 2014 though I think.

I think he meant his own Z, not the one I posted.

Thanks for the link. It confirmed the Nismo, but didn't pull up anything on the other one?

greenlawnraci 12-30-2015 08:43 PM

Drove the Nismo today and am going to pass. Was a little rough, and as per recommendations my money will go further on a base + sport.

Exhaust was really loud, even when cruising at 80 in 6th. Is that just Nismo exhaust?

cooltoy 12-31-2015 10:25 AM

Did it say Nismo on the tips?

Did not look closely, but should have - I wondered if perhaps it was aftermarket. Certainly was larger than a regular sport

Odds are it was aftermarket as even though the Nismo has a different exhaust than the base/sport, it still is very quiet.

Dirk McGurck 12-31-2015 01:37 PM

Based on those pics, the Nismo has an aftermarket exhaust. Also a new headunit. Wonder what else was modded.

MagmaRed370z 12-31-2015 01:53 PM

I would go with the 14.

That's good to know. I thought most stock and good aftermarket exhaust didn't drone at lower RPMs.

Agreed, that car wasn't meant to be. I'll keep searching for a 13 or 14 base + sport.

greenlawnraci 01-01-2016 12:54 PM

Beyond being really expensive, do you guys see anything wrong with this?

Used 2014 Nissan 370Z For Sale | Fort Pierce FL | Stock: EM632983

Houston Z33 01-03-2016 03:27 PM

If your financing allows it just go get a gently used, Low mileage 09-12.

From 2009 to 2016 not much at all changed on these cars, It's not like the Z33 where it was damned near a different car after 2007 - Don't throw 5-10k out the windows for some bumper LEDs.

Same motor, Same interior.....the only drastic change the Z34 got was the 2015 Nismo.
