Won't turn off

Google/forum search resulted in failure. If I'm wrong please lead me to the correct thread. I've been having difficulty turning off the car. I have to literally press the button

I've been having difficulty turning off the car. I have to literally press the button multiple times before the car will turn off, then several more times for it to turn completely off (ie not in ACC)

Only changes made to the Z are new wheels.
No codes, with the exception of speed sensor (which I believe is unrelated)

any insight much appreciated. Video below

In the mean time, what if you just press and hold it for 3 seconds?

Hmm. First the obvious: Make sure your car is in Park before you turn it off.

Regardless, given mandated vehicle safety standards, if you hold down the start button for over 3 seconds or push it several times in rapid succession it will kill the ignition. If this doesn't work, then there is something wrong with your ECU and you should see a dealer ASAP.

Battery is 4 months old, I have another I'll try. (Still unlocks/locks car, also this happens with the key in the slot)

Press and hold kills ignition but it'll stay in ACC.

Car is a 6spd

Edit.

Come to think of it, with the car in motion car isn't supposed to turn off (if u take away the hold-3seconds/rapid-press safety feature). Maybe it does have something to do with the speed sensor.
Can anyone confirm my theory

Sounds like a bad push button switch to me. I don't know how common that is but it would be a cheaper fix than the ecu. Maybe time for a GTR push button.

That's what I was thinking.

Maybe pop the button off and check to make sure the connector hasn't come loose.

Then you might as well swap it for the sexy GTR button while you've got it off.

Also, quick pressing it like that will always take it to ACC mode (see the manual). Just one press, then see what it does. Give it a second, then press it again.

One click does nothing. I guess I'll look for a start button

Only if you want a new one (or if you find the button itself is the culprit). Have you popped it off to see if the connector is loose?

If you have checked the fob battery (or placed fob in fobgina), then the next thing I would check is the connector(s) going to the switch. Plenty of DIYs on this site or use the FSM (see link in my sig). If the connector(s) is in place, then check the wiring from the switch connector to the ECM (or is it BCM?). Wiring diagrams, pinouts, physical locations, &c are in the FSM. If the connector and wiring check out, it's probably the switch.
