Prominent 370Z Issues?

Hey guys, just wondering what are the issues plaguing these cars if any? I've noticed two stickies regarding steering lock and oil temperatures. Are there anything else I should be concerned with in general? Perhaps with models with certain features, like the auto transmission? Thanks for any help, also if there's already a thread with this mods delete and link me :)

Steering lock, some oil consumption issues on the early models, lack of oil cooler. Those are the big three

Edit: CSC failures on the 6MT cars

Csc failure in the stick shifts. There's a sticky on here about that also if you want to read up on that.

Nothing major, csc, oil temp (if your tracking never gone into limp mode around town), fuel starvation on hard G's below half tank (there is an upgrade for this.), Shitty rear visibility, you develop chronic speeding habits, loud cabin noise, no trunk space, no practicality, blinkers arent loud enough causing you to drive with them on all the time, most z drivers wont wave back at you if you wave at them, too much fun, attracts boy racers, entices people to rev at you at stop lights, a little tough to drive in the rain, body roll needs to be corrected with front sway, and last but not least but I think this is important its just "a little v6".

Edit: Tl;dr auto tranny is bullet proof it will need a tranny cooler if you want to SC or FI.

Guys, I really appreciate the feedback! Thanks again.

If you have a little weiner a Z won't cut it; you're going to need a bitchin' Camaro and a mullet.

I'd say the CSC has the potential to be major. Depends on where it happens to you. And it will happen. Dun dun dun...

Steering lock for earlier models.
CSC on manuals
Differential bushing.
Fuel starve.

EzDz 11-11-2015 11:02 PM

Csc is really about the only one you should pay attention too, car is overly built in every aspect but its weak oem csc; an oil cooler if you track but thats going to go on any car you buy for the track

I hate to be the newb asking something probably easily recognizable but, what is "csc?"

I did a search by thread title by all sub sections and no results.

***Never mind*** just found it at the top of General. I was planning for an auto anyway.

If by "bulletproof" you mean "will grenade over 400 ft/lbs", then yes.

That's pretty much it. ^

The site's search really sucks, IMNSHO. I prefer to go to one of the major web search engines and add "site:the370z.com" to my search string. Eg:
CSC site:the370z.com

370z top of the list Issues
  • Fuel Starvation: Turning right for a long time runs the fuel pump dry.
  • CSC: The clutch mechanicals WILL eventually fail and leave you stranded.
  • Steering Lock: This anti-theft feature sometimes freaks out and leaves the car unable to start.
  • Oil Temperature: The 370z motor likes to run hot. So much so, that they built in safe modes which kick in to limit RPM @ certain temperatures over ~250.
  • Rear Hatch: Pushing the button doesn't always pop the trunk.
  • Alignment: Camber / caster are not adjustable stock. Must purchase aftermarket components.

IIRC, the more basic the unit/audio system you get, the easier it is to mod the system right?

Correct

Anyone care to explain what are the differences/upgrades from the standard coupe to the sport package? I'm assuming it's brakes, shocks, springs, tires, wheels, the spoiler and maybe gearing? Anything else?

The sport gives you akenbone brake package, limited slip diff, wider tires 9 in front 10 in rear, 19 inch wheels, rev match on the manual and as of 2016 it gets the bose sound system. Worth it if you plan to track or spirited drive and dont plan on a new diff or 6 piston breaks.

The nismo gives you wider wheels at 9.5 and 10.5 a tiny drop from springs and dampers plus all the sport stuff

D.Stillwell 11-13-2015 05:59 AM

^^ I find the sport to be a way better overall street setup than Nismo. Handles better on non-perfect roads. Nismo may be a bit better on a perfect smooth track, maybe.

Also, you can't fully turn off VDC on the non-sport models. Oh and, base seats suck compared to sport seats. Thats all I got now

The Z is a panty dropper. I suggest that you leave the girlfriend or wife at home if she is the jealous type.
