Exhaust Advice

I will be looking at getting an aftermarket exhaust finally after owning the car since I bought it. I am looking for a deep tone sound. I like the sound of the stock G35 but I want something similar just a bit louder. I don't like SUPER loud nor ricey. I know there are quite a few options out there but to my luck, I haven't heard any of these in person.

One one of the options I had in mind is the Fast Intentions Non-Resonated Catback exhaust.

Can anyone help me choose the right one with any sound clips you might have or simply suggestions? My budget at this time is less than $1,500. I would probably pair it with the Stillen Gen 3 Cold Air Intake.

Last question - would I need it tuned with a mod as simply as aftermarket exhaust and intake? I'm thinking no but someone delight me lol.

Thanks!

Don't bother getting a cold air intake, they're sorta built-in to the 370 and offer so little return.

No tune required, not gonna run too lean that way.

I have the FI non-resonated exhaust.

I am guessing you are looking for cat backs? Get a set of HFC's and FI's cat back, from what people say HFC's are great sounding and open up some hp. FI makes great exhausts. Maybe someone with a FI can chime and help you out. AAM makes a 2.5 inch h pipe catback that you can pair with short tails but that will be really loud.

Yes, BUT...

Get a 12 or 18" resonator if you're gonna do cats / test pipes. Otherwise it's just a loud stupid noise. :icon17:

Fast Intentions with 18" res will give you what your looking for

sorry to say but there is no exhaust for the Z that will sound anywhere close to the G35C's signature tone.

one reason why i kept my G's exhaust stock. :D

Wait since when is it ok to run a intake with no tune or even exhaust (if cat delete?) Thought this could cause you to run super lean. If anything you would need it to clear the engine codes.

I am confused big time with the CAI now. Some say yes, some say no to CAI. Is it just better to drop in the K&N filters with the Z1 silicone plumbing???
I dont want to spend money on CAI if there is no gain in HP.

Cheers.

The air source is outside the engine bay from the factory.

If you can tell a difference before and after your CAI install i will be supremely impressed. I couldn't, and sold mine accordingly.

Spend the $300 on some fancy wheels / tires / brakes instead.
- But then again that's just my opinion, I could be wrong.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Armytrix, Tomei, or Motordyne yet lol.

It looks like Fast Intentions "Resonated" Catback might be my choice with stock cats. If I decide to turbo or supercharge it then I will swap for HFC. Probably not going to happen in a while.

Anyone have any sound clips of their exhaust set up?
