I live in L.A County and I'm running without front plates, although I know it's a matter of time before I get cited for not having them :ugh:

Despite all this, I still can't bring myself to drill the bumper to do so nor do I like the Stillen adapter either.

Front plates look so ugly in any car!

TerribleONE 11-09-2015 09:52 AM

I am not running one but I left my windows untinted because of this. I feel like you can get away with one or the other in my area but with both your asking for a ticket.

Hotrodz 11-09-2015 09:56 AM

Having been a law enforcement officer, TerribleONE is spot on. If you have multiple things wrong you will be cited for at least one depending on your attitude lol.

I haven't had a problem with not having a front plate. I also have all my windows tinted including windshield.

zmanelite 11-09-2015 10:02 AM

I don't have one as it looks bad ,its only a matter of time but ill deal with it till then

wanker 11-09-2015 10:15 AM

I'm glad we don't have to run stupid front plates here in Tennessee.

Hotrodz 11-09-2015 10:58 AM

In AZ they did away with it years ago as a cost savings measure. One of those rare times when the government got it right.

in ontario we need to. quebec you don't and some of the maritimes provinces you don't either. so you can have cars coming from quebec without the front plate or vice versa. i think it should be country wide uniform.

with our without doesn't matter just make sure it's the same.

Zbrah 11-09-2015 11:34 AM

No front and rear plate, no cats, all windows tinted 15% going on 3 years and zero ***** given. When the time comes I'll deal with it :D

Same way I run it. I have had cops pull me over and talk to me about my car because well 1 of 2 things... they like cars or they are taking pictures and getting my license plate info and putting me on blast at the station lol. EITHER way I have not had one word said to me about not having a front license plate. Tint is a lot more obvious because it is impeding the officer from seeing you in your vehicle. A front license plate on the other hand, I don't know an officer who uses the front plate or even walks to the front of the car in a citation. I have only been pulled over a handful of times (can count on 1 hand) and only have been given one ticket for talking on the cell and driving. But at least talking on the cell is better than texting. When you talking yeah you have 1 hand on the wheel but at least your paying attention to what is in front of you not what you are typing. Back to the point though, if you don't draw extra needed attention something's will get overlooked.

The other thing to consider is if a cop is looking for a reason to pull you over...say he thinks you may be under the influence, then he has a reason for the stop.

As the saying goes there are only choices and consequences!

I am a CA resident and have not had a front plate on one of my cars since 1982. Only once have I received a ticket (not on my 370Z), and it was a real chickensh*t one at that. I lived in a school zone that was heavily traffic enforced and so was always very careful driving in my neighborhood. A motorcycle officer had a van pulled over and was writing a ticket. As I approached, at about 22 MPH, the cop stepped out into the street, pointed at me and then pointed at the curb in front of the van. I thought WTF, I wasn't speeding. He proceeded to write me up for no front plate. I put the plate on, got the ticket signed off, paid the fine and went home and removed the plate. No problems since, and I have had a couple of speeding infractions since then too.

wanker 11-09-2015 05:10 PM

It just depends on where you live in CA. In Riverside, the police would submit tickets for no front plates on cars parked in front of the courthouse.

Pretty chickens@#t, but I suppose they need the revenue.

Drilling Bumper?

You DO NOT have to drill the front bumper! Drill new mounting holes higher in the factory license bracket, there fore lowering the bracket, and use the same holes in the black grill. It AIN'T hard. Up with the holes, down with the bracket. Keeps it completely off the painted area.

Brad Edwards 11-09-2015 07:05 PM

I recieved the ticket for no front license plate, I spend the hundred buck, got the MowerAxle holder, didn't drill a single hole anywhere, went to the courthouse, had a cop sign off the ticket, paid the fine,

Who needs to borrow it?

from_a_G 11-09-2015 07:19 PM

Got tired of getting those tickets here in NYC so i went with the mower axle... Theres a cop every few blocks here..

I actually have a Stillen front plate bracket that I don't use, anyone needs to borrow it so you can get your ticket signed off let me know. I'm in south oc.

cops actually ticket for tint? i have limo tint all around, including front windshield. all my previous cars have had dark tint (i.e. below legal limits) and i have never had a cop giving me sh*t because of it. in fact, i've had cops have me roll down my window in traffic for them to tell me my car looks awesome. IMO, if cops have to cite you because of tint, then they really have nothing better to do.

regarding the front license plate, luckily, in florida, we don't have to have them. i've always wondered what the point is of having it in the front?

axmea? 11-09-2015 10:23 PM

I think you are more likely to get one from parking enforcement than a patrol officer or chp. Classic case is Malibu along the beach on PCH or in Glendale or anywhere it is strictly enforced.

Hotrodz 11-09-2015 10:27 PM

Yup those enforcement personnel are to strictly enforce the law for revenue generation. Nobody gets a break.

No front plate since ive owned it. Pulled over a handful of times no tickets yet. One Year I forgot to pay my tags(i hate that they send it like 3 months early lol) and he let me go an told me to pay my tags and said nothing about not having a front plate.

I think its more about how your drive, If your calm and drive like a normal safe driver should, I dont see why they would bother you. At least that's been my philosophy.

Breadz 11-10-2015 06:50 PM

My whole family runs plateless in the front and have never been pulled over for it. Im doing it aswell but im sure one day itll happen

Daishi9000 12-01-2015 10:44 AM

Limo on the windshield? Must be fun driving at night

Zbrah 12-01-2015 11:04 AM

I think he meant front visor and not the entire windshield, at least that's what I'm hoping it is lol

Ommateal 12-01-2015 03:14 PM

No front and have tint, no problems yet xD Prob a matter of time for sure.

Hotrodz 12-01-2015 03:27 PM

It just depends on the circumstances, I have pulled over for tint here...once and he let me go with a warning. Sometimes they will do a targeted patrol and everybody gets a ticket for noncompliance. For all the speeding that goe on, I would take the fix it ticket with a smile...just sayin.

It's been a few years since I've lived in Cali, but I have never had a front license plate, and never had a problem. Did have a meter made in high school who used to hit me for exhaust violations on a 67 mustang with blown out glass packs.
