Audio Upgrade Poll

I want better quality at higher volumes.
And some higher volume all together would be appreciated.

SO with that in mind, do I,

1. Upgrade Speakers
2. Upgrade Speakers AND add Amp

kenchan 10-21-2015 11:06 AM

which kenwood do you have?

I'd say do the door speakers (components) first and see how you like it.

If you want better sound at higher volume it's not a poll, it's you have to get better speakers and an amp.

wat if your car has high milage?

The speakers will make the most difference. Get some efficient speakers and, as per kenchan, see if that's what you want. You can always add an amp later.

Thank you all for the good and surprisingly consistent information.

Is there a suggested door / tweeter setup which is suited to the Z ?

My head unit specs.
Model: Kenwood DDX-512

I'm not an audio guy, but I'd say that if you are paying somebody to install, it may cost you more to have them install speakers first and then amp later, rather than just do it all at once. Amps are not very expensive. You *might* be happy with just speakers, but you will definitely be happy with both amp and speakers. I say when you take the cost of an amp (maybe around $125 for a good one) and then subtract the extra money you would have spent to have somebody install it later, and the cost difference to add an amp is pretty small.

Great point. I was assuming this was a DIY job but it may not be.

contact bigaudiofanat here on the forums or check out the audio section...

Most high quality speakers require high power Therefore, do speakers and amp.

Every time I buy a vehicle, my first mod is the audio piece

Btw, I sold my Z and I still have the Dynaudio speakers and Infinity speakers with the adapters for the Z. I am sure my ad is still in the for sale section.

Need a 3rd poll option to add rear speakers (yes I've heard the "soundstage" argument which is probably true UNTIL you start driving then the "soundstage" is overwhelmed by rear road noise.)
so I replaced stock with Jensen unit with rear speakers and small bass amp / woofer in the back, Note: I just listen to music at moderate volume, I'm not stirring your coffee with my bass when I'm next to you at a light, i keep thinking I'll replace the front 4 speakers but it sounds quite good so I can't convince myself to spend more $
(Now the Jensen nav is crappy and can barely tell me the road I'm on so did also get a nice 6" garmin which sits nicely on the dash when needed and lives in the glove box when not) so I've a "sport tech" for bargain $

So whats your question? You already added the rears, if you like it great.

If you had good fronts with good power you can drown out any road noise, even with the windows down on the hwy.
