sports package?

I was wondering if a 370z has red caliper ,does it mean it has the sports package?

Syl13 09-09-2015 02:22 PM

If it is unmodified, yes. It could also mean that someone powder coated calipers that may or may not be stock.

If, new: Yes. Easiest way to tell is to compare the gallery photos on Nissan's website.

I have a base and purchased the sport package brakes...

If it has the SRM button at the top right on the shifter console (if manual) then it is a sports package.

Also, wheel size is an obvious to see indicator.

depends on model year. from 2012 to 2013 they changed the colour of the calipers (i believe from akebono to brembo's?), rims changed slightly and 'euro tuned' suspension.

essentially the same car.

I dont know where mishuko is getting his info from, but the manufacturer of the brake calipers has never changed, they have always been akebonos when it comes to the 370.....the only Z to ever have brembos was the 350

Yes i meant new from dealer. I saw a 14 with red caliper advertise as base model. So i was wondering if the base model comes with the sports package.

The sports package was a $3000 option on the base 370z. It adds bigger brakes front and rear, viscous limited slip differential, synchro-rev match shifting (on manual transmissions), 19" forged Ray's wheels with Bridgestone tires, and a zero-lift aerodynamics package including a front chin splitter and rear deck spoiler.

I think that's it.

IAmTheStig, has it right, "sports package" is an added on option to a "base model". Please keep in mind, the dealer may have just used a nicer picture of the Z to advertise the car, even though it's not the exact car they are selling. :shakes head:

Also in case you're wondering, the sports package cannot be added on to a base model once it leaves the factory from Japan.

the safest way to find out if a Z has the sports package is to run the VIN. all other cosmetics can be added on.

but generally speaking, you will find the following on a Z w/ the sports package:

1. rear wing
2. red or grey brake calipers
3. 19 inch wheels
4. if 6 MT transmission, then look for "S" button on the top right.

If 7 AT and newer models (i believe '15+ - correct me if i'm wrong):
1. it will have paddle shifters (i read somewhere the new base models 7 AT don't come with paddle shifters).
2. the side Z emblem marker will not light up when you use turn signals on base models.

might have mistaken that for the 350 as your mentioned... :shakes head:

Mine has the sport package with the red brake calipers with the nissan wording on it with 19 inch rays and spoiler. The side marker also blinks when I turn on my blinker but I don't know if that was included on the base.

Did you see it in person or online?

If online, they could be using a BS picture.

In person, if its a 14 it should def. be with the sport package (though technically still a base model).
