Film would still allow the lamp to dissipate adequate heat. If it's that close to fracturing just because of a piddly thin layer of film it's gonna happen without any film.
Barely merits a response.

Research it before you say it's bs.

I'm curious how you arrived upon a conclusion that I hadn't done any research? A couple of pictures in a link where someone showed their stress fractures and decided it had to be film is not research.

Well, I did some research, and from what I read there seemed to be about an equal number of those with film and the fractures, those without film that had fractures anyway, those with film and zero fractures and a number with fractures that had had tints/and or film done and had decided it just HAD to be the film's fault.
Nowhere did I read anything that arrived at a definitive answer as to what caused them.....only one hell of a lot of speculation.
This begs the question, why are there so many with fractures that have never had ANY film/tints applied? How exactly did film become the culprit?"

Sorry, I don't have the answers either. All one can do is decide for themselves whether or not to apply film to their headlamps and take their chances. If you don't want to, don't. If you decide there's an advantage to it and willing to run the risk if the film just might prove to be a problem down the road, then do it. It's your money, your car, you take your chances.
FWIW....I'm not running out the door and pulling my Xpel anytime soon so put me in the 'Living on the Edge' category.

I'm not here to argue. If you like em get em. I was wondering if it was a good idea and many said they've read problems and so did I. Not sure why you're trying to pick an internet fight lol. Anyway, good night, I don't have the energy to deal with ya.

if you are keeping your car for a long time, it will be a good idea. I have swirls on mine and will need to polish and clearcoat soon. This would have probably given protection.

Where's the CF turd group buy list??

I have 50% film on mine just to tone down the chrome contrast on MB, the bump on the headlight is a real b1#ch to apply film to which maybe why they don't have a kit for us.

On my tails I just put film on the reverse/turn bright white section to tone it down a bit without hiding the brake lights because I need all the help I can get with the texting / tailgating idiots around here...

Hey, no sweat. No offense was meant, and none taken. I just couldn't seem to find anything that made it clear the film was or wasn't the reason for the fractures. It was really left up in the air whether it was a good idea or not. I don't base my decisions on someone's speculation. I sure hope film doesn't cause 'em or one day I'm not gonna be happy. Cheers.
