Could criminals hack your Z and simply drive it away?

Quote from New York Times link below...
"In recent months, there has been a slew of mysterious car break-ins in Los Angeles. What’s odd is that there have been no signs of forced entry. There are no pools of broken glass on the pavement and no scratches on the doors from jimmied locks." :shakes head:

New York Times: Keeping Your Car Safe From Electronic Thieves

2014 Jeep Cherokee, a 2014 Infiniti Q50, or a 2015 Escalade rated most vulnerable. Researchers find 2014 models of Dodge Viper, Audi A8, Honda Accord are the least likely to be hit by hackers.

Yes, get lo jack.

To be honest, I don't think thieves would be likely to steal a 370z because they're quite rare in my community and it'll only cause unwanted attention.

Wow, ours Z's are open for this kind of theft. Never leave mine out of my sight, but still and eary thought as it only takes a few seconds to do.

Yes, if you're close to your car they can just use one of these.
Thieves using a $17 device to break into cars with keyless systems

If they want the whole car they will just winch it onto a flatbed and take it out of state/country (or to a chop shop). If any car is on the street, it can be stolen. Locks, alarms, &c may deter a local thug but won't slow down a pro.

This is not something you want to throw in open visible car specific forum. That was the problem with Honda-tech.com, people training others how to steal cars. But no biggy. If you get paranoid or if you see people trying to F with your car with remotes. All you have to do is take the battery out of your keyfob, and figure out the rest, you can start by taking the key out and opening your door

Just need something like this:

Wireless RF Isolation Key Fob Security - Select Fabricators Inc

http://www.amazon.com/Keyfob-RFID-Si...dp/B00Y3FLYWG/

Security through obscurity only benefits the thieves. For all the amateurs that might want to try from sifting a forum, the defenses are far better learned. Ultimately it's all about delaying the inevitable but unless you can hire armed guards 24/7 if someone wants in they're going to get in. Most anti-theft is about detecting and/or delaying until the popo can be called or you can arm yourself...
