whenever i want to. at any given time it'll be 2k and at another 7k. sometimes i'll sit in a gear because i'm lazy, i want to hear music or i just don't like you.

other times i'll shift at low rpm's to go super slow to be that j-a because you were tailgating me.

gas consupmtion is overrated. burn it all.

She gets a little annoyed when I peg the rev limiter coming up this one hill nearby her house. By myself with an empty road? Peg the rev limiter it is! The important thing is to know that there is a time to go fast and theres a time to cruise. Find out how to moderate these two and you'll always have a good day.

-Windows up or down? I prefer windows down unless there is inclement weather. Even when its horridly hot here, I am just used to having the windows down and just using the breeze. Now if I have a passenger its always their choice. One of my pet peeves is that rain falls off of the roof and straight inside onto the door panel because the roof is skinny than the door. And I love driving with the windows down when it is just nicely showering, but the water falling in makes me worry.

My MPG (while driving as above described) ends up being around 21 in the city which I'm rather happy about... My driving style consists of pure cruising, or sorta rushing to get to 6th just to sit there and let the engine work as little as possible (IE best MPG), or just driving hard and making all the beautiful noises she makes on the way through the rev range.

Great points

Our Z has been a DD for over 4 years now and has nearly 70K miles. Spirited street driving for me is determined primarily by the conditions of the road (i.e. traffic). Windows down unless it is raining. I'm getting closer to 18 mpg these days in the city but who cares.

I like downshifting to 2nd and 3rd gears closer to 3000-3500 RPMs. Probably because my new-to-me FI exhaust sounds so sexy :yum:

7600 Rpm is the only time a man shifts gears.

J.k. Usually 3k when cruising

I went from SoCal to Phoenix and averaged 27mpg each way, 75-80mph with the AC on the entire time. Mileage has been better than I expected.

my Z is usually around 20-22 mpg, not that i really check, but just rough calculation in my head at the pump.

That's a good # for that speed. I got upwards of 33mpg when I went from Denver back to chicago. Light throttle on the downhills to get some good momentum going, then feather the throttle going up hill to arrive at about 60 mph at the crest. Hard to do with traffic around and need a good radar detector :)

That aside, still possible to get upper 20's if you keep the speed under 65 (impossible to do).

My previous car was a 2004 GTO. That would usually get 20-24 if i tried really hard. The Z is a nice change with gas around $4 per gallon in Socal
