Why did they stop making Chicane Yellow Zs?
The 370Z looks completely awesome in Chicane Yellow. Why did they stop making them? Was nobody buying Zs in that color?

The Yellow paintwork was badly done at Factory, the colour of the body don't match the bumpers & fuel flap, maybe because those plastic parts are not painted....
|
Yellow is a technically difficult color to paint because you need to spray many, many coats to get good coverage. We all know Nissan's paint quality (or lack thereof), so it's probably for the best that Chicane Yellow was discontinued.

Like the IS300 in yellow just bad on the eyes. Exciting for a few minutes then yawn.
|
The 350Z came in a similar yellow (Ultra Yellow Metallic) for only 1 model year also (2005). I wonder if yellow just doesn't sell as well as the other colors. That, or it could just be a limited edition type thing.

Mr. Chicane ran out of pee. Therefore, no more Chicane yellow. His kidney's couldn't take it anymore.
|
I believe it was an extra $500 for chicane yellow as well.

LOL. "Some cars were just born to be yellow" Slap a number on the doors and a couple of stickers and you'd think there was a meter running inside. Kidding aside, it probably sat in the lot much longer because of the stigma attached to all yellow cars. I personally like it and I have seen a couple in SoCal. One decked out with a full amuse kit and nicely modded.

Are you talking about its370z lol? I don't think his car is Chicane yellow though but still nice.

The real question is why did they stop making that blue that they only made in 2009?

What blue was only made in 2009? The only blue I know of is Monterey Blue and they made that for a few years until 2012 I think?

The yellow was very cool, it's funny though if you look at Monterey Blue Ebay prices for like, anything, they are triple the price.
|
They only had Chicane Yellow for the first year of the new 370 in 2009.
It was a $500 extra charge. This is also the least produced color of the 370 except for one color that I think was never actually put on our cars for sale. I forget the color though, it was on one of the charts on this site. |

I think even the 300zx only came in yellow for one year ,1990.

They stopped making the yellow becuz they were tired of ppl putting BUMBLEBEE on the license plate

If I'm not mistaken? Nissan announced it was a year one color option when the car debuted.... It was a $500 option and wasn't meant to keep going. The next year we got black cherry as a $500 option. I believe it's a standard color now.
If I was a gambling man? I'm almost sure lack of sales ended the $500 upcharge on limited run colors. I bet, probably magma red and midnight blue were supposed to be upcharge colors till sales declined???? Then they probably turned into using those colors as a strategies to boost sales??? DISCLAIMER: Second paragraph is just me guessing. HOLDS NO WEIGHT as fact. |

The mantra "Nissan has poor paint quality", often parroted here by people who have no actual information, has risen to the level of Urban Legend. Do you have some actual information that supports that statement? |
I can say the comment about the bumpers not matching was 100% correct.
