What gear do you find yourself cruising the most?
 

Hey guys,
What gear do you find yourself cruising the most on your daily driving? I find myself cruising in 4th gear for 75% of my commute to and from work.

6th gear with MT. You can easily use 6th gear for both local and highway. Cruising at 4th gear is just wasting your gas.........unless you're crawling around 20 mph.

5th

5th.

3rd and 4th.

4th gear.. i barely go to 5.. traffic

4th mostly for me in the city.

When I'm stuck in rush hour, I probably use neutral more than any other gear. That's why I never will understand why people claim they can't have a stick because of heavy traffic. What's the big deal? When it's bumper to bumper I just let the clutch out enough to get it rolling and go right back into neutral. I never even use the accelerator most of the time. When I drive my automatic winter beater in traffic it is so boring I want to tear my hair out.

I cruise using the tallest gear available in a given vehicle given a "normal or average range" of driving conditions.

Yeah my commute is in the 30mph-35mph zones.

6th, but would gladly stay in 5th if i could get better gas mileage(love stepping on the gas in 5th). My daily commute is mostly highway. :driving:

5th. my dd only has 5 gears... well, dat plus reverse.

I use to think like that. The Z is my first auto and I'm kinda digging the break. The auto Z not being a slouch probably helps with that. Granted, I've was driving stick 100% for nearly 30 years. Plus, my Ghia is manual so I can still slam gears when I get a wild hair.

I do 75% of my driving on a 30-40mph zone and I find myself in 4th 5th gear mostly.

It's not wasting gas. It's called enjoying you exhaust! ;)

I've been known to putt along in 6th at 35/40 mph. It's fine so long as just cruising, especially on the flatlands here in IL.

The gearing is really wacked on both the G and the 370Z. Top gear (6th) is usually highway/over drive, but to be cruising at 65 mph in 6th gear at 2500 rpm is just wrong. My old camaro would be doing 80 mph at barely 2K rpm in 6th. From what I recall, something like 2800 or 2900 rpm is 80 mph in this car.

Either 3rd or 4th around town....

Im doing first gear pulls everywhere, I never go faster than 45 miles/hour, even on the highway. Hope my engine lasts.

Me too, that's why I am updading to a ZSpeed High Performance Clutch and Flywheel Package at the end of the month.

i like to pull hard in first and second. never really have an opportunity to use 3-4-5 pulls except very exceptional moments on the highway. ie 4 am when everyone is asleep

4th and 5th.

6th most of the time :driving:

Cruising: 5th.

But most of my driving is highway so 6th.

In the Z, closing of the eyes is unnecessary :rolleyes:

Haha, I remember. Ive always been backing cars in to park since I learned to drive. That habit was most useful in the army and the 370, lol.
