Sports Package: Front Lip

I'm sitting here looking at a picture of a silver 2012 370Z with the sports package. I know the SP comes with some sort of front lip. Looking at this picture, I don't see anything that looks different than mine.

What is this lip? :icon14:

JesseG805 06-24-2015 05:53 AM

As far as i know, it should be the same.

I'm sure it was an addition. Is the backup camera standard on these cars?

( Click to show/hide )

It is an option you can add.

STICK_SHIFT 06-25-2015 08:14 AM

I love how both of the front lips pictured are all scraped up. :rofl2:

It was the first owner :shakes head:

but sometime when you go down an incline drive way, and even though you angle as much as possible, it ******* drags.

Oklahoma has some crappy roads as well.

BoneZ 06-25-2015 08:29 AM

I hit it every morning and afternoon pulling out/in my driveway.

Birdfan67 06-25-2015 08:38 AM

And there are little spoilers in front of the tires making for redundancy and more to scrape .

vtec to vvel 06-25-2015 08:58 AM

luckily where i live, the roads are decent, but it's those damn speed humps that are made a bit too high. there are certain places that i just don't (more like can't) go anymore because i dont want to scrape, or i'll have to drive another 10 miles to get to say chipotle bc the one next to my house has a HUGE dip going in/out. when i had my 350Z, i literally had to get out of my car and push because it got stuck in that dip.

those are for the tires. the center deflector is for the air going under the chassis.

i dont use either. ings+1 only.

GJBenn85 06-26-2015 10:32 PM

I never installed mine because I knew it would constantly hit things, I already hit enough curbs/parking bumpers with the bottom of the bumper. Maybe I'll just sell it, haha.

how about u learn your car? ... :icon08: the f-??

jonjiang 06-30-2015 04:51 PM

I'm thinking the lip was designed to take some wear and tear. It's made of flexible plastic that can take some abuse.

I use mine as an indicator of low clearance. If I hear it scrape, I slow down.

kenchan 06-30-2015 06:54 PM

:wtf2:

ShutokuZ 06-30-2015 07:30 PM

I don't wait for the audible to slow down, I slow down so I don't hear it.....

Z-Girl 12 06-30-2015 07:35 PM

The lip is a plus in the looks department even tho it us small. And like someone said the material is defintiely made to take some what of a beating. It is definitely a keeper in my book. Especially if you don't plan on adding a kit which I have no intention of ever doing.

BoneZ 06-30-2015 07:37 PM

The wife hasn't figured out she needs to take the driveway at an angle yet.

Drakonis GTR 07-01-2015 09:54 AM

The problem I have with mine is that the 2 clips that hold it up on the far ends of the lip no longer stay into the slots. I need to try to bend those out so that they will hold it up, instead of curling down.

DOOMMONKEY777 07-01-2015 08:51 PM

You dont need that crap, buy an S-tune lip instead.

STICK_SHIFT 07-03-2015 10:28 PM

So, do you think a base without the lip would be less likely to scrape?

RanRich 08-06-2017 02:15 PM

Back from the dead.. Just checking in to make sure there is no real performance benefit and I am fine to take this off when lowering springs go on

Z-Girl 12 08-06-2017 02:36 PM

Go for it!

DamnThatZGuy 08-08-2017 10:05 AM

Funny this thread came up. It's nearly impossible to never scrape this lip. I do it on the regular even at extreme angles(although it does help). Sometimes the dips are just too intense though(California). Then sometimes it gets caught on parking log/stop things and when I reverse it pulls the ends out so I have to get out and pop them back in. It's extremely annoying. I've gotten better about not pulling up so close to those parking things.

I've replaced the lip that came with the car from the previous owner and I'm already doing a number on the new one. Like I said, depending on where you live it's almost impossible to never scrape it.

Jayhovah 08-08-2017 10:25 AM

I scrape it constantly and I am not lowered. I've just come to think of it as a "wear part"

Amuse370z 08-10-2017 07:23 PM

Jesus christ my lowered Z would be absolutely destroyed in 1 day by some of yall and I'm only dropped an inch or so

Well maybe depends where you live. Here in the Bay Area especially SF I think they just put maybe a 30mm fillet on the edge and curd and call that a driveway.
