It's the only place where I know what I'm getting. |
For most of the cars I've owned, the oil got changed in the garage/driveway. When I had the Z, it was more effort than I cared to expend to raise the car, unbolt the lower cover, &c, so I took it to a dealer.
Be aware that at a lot of dealerships the guy doing oil changes is the same guy that washes cars - minimum wage and probably not all that motivated to do a good job. When possible, I will seek out the guy who will be changing my oil and chat with him a bit in hopes that he will be doing the job for that-guy-with-the-nice-car instead of just-another-faceless-customer. I've had bad luck with oil change shops and avoid them now. But you may have better luck in your area. |
I order my own oil and filter off Amazon then spend $20 to have one of those lube shops do it... Of course I'm watching them the whole time. Usually they like talking to me about cars.

Mitsubishi dealership.
I can't comment, cause in my garage, and no DIY's allowed. :)

Private / personal mechanic. I buy redline oil at a rare store that carries it and at a great price.

Here on Long Island I just go by forum sponsor Real Auto Dynamics for service as the dealerships are clueless about Z's 99 out of 100 times.

no need to change oil. just buy new car.
My brother is a mechanic at a local garage. I but the oil and filter and they take care of the rest.

$50 full synthetic at a local shop down the road.

Local Nissan Dealer. I went earlier this month and switched over to Mobil 1. Tech comes into lounge and asks "whos Z?". Started chatting - he owns a lightly modded one as well. He was asking about my F.I. exhaust. Pretty cool guy. I'd do it myself but since moving into my own place, I have no space to really work on the car. I feel much better about taking her to the dealer after I met the tech.
why u move to ur own space dat has no room to work on ur car? :ugh2:
garage first, dd next, then hobby car. |
At the Nissan Stealership.
No one goes to the instant oil change stores like XX Lube ??
Proper Drainage
They do not take the time to let it drain properly. I'm too old to be crawling under a car, but I'm gonna do it!
I DIY with PYB and Nissan filter. No way am I letting the dealership guys touch my car. If you look at most of their personal appearances, they really let themselves go and I'm sure their work gets the same kind of attention.
You CAN judge a book by it's cover. Of course there is always an exception but the rule still stands. |

A story: I tell the agent, I want a house with a two car garage. First house she says here is a nice house ... no garage :icon14: Ma'am, I said two car garage. Next house, garage is one car :icon14: Ma'am, I said two car garage. Next house she shows us has a CAR PORT. Thank you Ma'am, we're done. I told this story to the next agent. Didn't see anything without a two car garage. |
