if sky was limit for me, i'd get 3 GTR's: one for DD, second for garage-viewing/showcar, and last one for track purposes only.

yah, i dont know too many cars in that price range to tell u the truth. :rofl2:

You get to 60 waaaaayyy too fast in the vette on the street and there's not as much drama that can be had on roads as with the Z. It must've hit 60 well under 4.0 seconds. But I came out of my test drive thinking. Maybe a Z06 as a dedicated track car? The vette was well behaved on the road and it's transitional ability was stupendous. The C7 fit and finish made the Z feel dated. I tested a black vette with red leather. Very nice car. Amazing experience. Getting on the highway Wowed me. That's where the vette took the Z out completely. Especially when I hit the donut exit. Wow... Loads of grip.

For us willing to spend over $70k. There are so many sports car options. Under $70k is starting to lose ground again like the 90's. It's gonna be Miatas and muscle, all over again.

Z is a better street car.....sounds like the FRS/BRZ defense :bowrofl:

Personally, I'd rather have the C7 on the street or on the track. Mine will be my DD so I will be driving it quite a bit.

this isn't the "fanboy" in me talking, but the ONLY car i would consider buying over 70k is the nissan gtr.

Sounds like a fanboy to me :stirthepot:

I wanted a GT-R at one point......and then I learned how to drive a manual. Not so much after that :roflpuke2:

Auto>manual. All day. I cant see anyone in the right mind wanting a manual ANYthing over a GTR

GTR is still the most capable all inclusive platform on thr planet

ive driven manuals all my life and the 370Z is my first auto. i have to say, ive grown to like the auto alot in the Z. fun factor of rowing thought the gears isnt there, but are you really going to turn down a gtr if given the chance to buy?

That guy is crazy if he thought he had a chance against a Z.

Really? A dealer near me suggested I take one of the new 2014 Vettes for a spin. I had just gotten out of the hospital so I had track marks all over my arm, making me look like some kind of junkie. He asked if I wanted to take it for a drive, I said sure, do you need my license and insurance and he said no. And away we went...

I'm the exact opposite. I've driven autos all my life and the C7 will be my first manual. Figured I should get one before they go completely extinct. I have learned how to drive one, but have never owned one for myself.

Not saying the GT-R is bad. I definitely respect its performance capabilities, but that's just one part of the car ownership experience. I've never driven a GT-R, but I have ridden in modded GT-R's. I think I might have the same problem with its size that I did with the Mustang I drove. Of course the GT-R can definitely handle it's size, but it's about driving experience preference at that point. GT-R's never gonna sound as good (to me) as something with 8+ cylinders. Subjective again, but I don't think it looks good either.

The C7 for me checked off all the boxes for what I was looking for in my next car. Had the performance, looks, interior, features, sound, and driving experience. Though the FPC V8 on the new GT350 had me thinking hard about getting one.

though your post wasn't directed at me I figure I would chime in.

I absolutely would turn it down if it was mine to buy. obviously the car is beasty. I also agree that manuals are at a disadvantage when compared to a good auto or dct. however, IMHO, it takes part of the fun out of driving (never driven Godzilla but have had the chance to flog a pdk Cayman and drive a dct M3).

now give me one and I would drive it mercilessly. that said if it was my money I would buy the upcoming Cayman GT4 in 6MT.

Different strokes.

I think it really does depend on the dealership and sales person. I think I have some issues because I'm young (25), but the good dealerships/sales people never seem to care. Once tried to test drive a 2013/2014 5.0 and the sales guy took me out of the driveway, down the road a couple hundred feet, and then back into the dealership. His reasoning "this is too much car for you", despite the fact that I did not even drive fast/aggressive or even accelerate hard. :shakes head:

Depends on what you're comparing it to. If you're looking at cars around the $30-40k range I don't think it's all that competitive. The Mustang and Camaro definitely out class the Z in terms of performance. When the 370Z was first released, it was competitive with those 2 cars. Both Ford and GM have updated them since then and left the Nissan behind because it failed to do the same.

This is the reason why I didn't even consider a Z for my next car purchase. If they had released one or confirmed any details that revealed it could be competitive with those cars soon I may have considered getting another one. I had decided on getting a 2016 5.0 earlier this year and then I started looking at used C7's. As soon as I test drove one, my mind was pretty much made up. Just placed an order for a 2016 C7 like 2 weeks ago and should be getting it delivered around late August. :excited:

I think the main drive of the Z is the looks for me and I like it's look far more than any other manufacturer, with honda's at a close second. I am not one who is going to track my car other than maybe 1 time a year.

I just hate the styling of american cars :shakes head:

I also live in Oklahoma, so corvettes are a dime a dozen here. I guess the location has really jaded my appetite for american styling.
