THIS JUST IN:

nobody knows for sure what the next Z will look like, or if there will even be an upcoming Z.

In a way, I kind of hope that they do not make another Z. Our current Z would hold value a lot better.

cliff notes: they mention a gap in production similar to the one between the 300zx and the 350z as a possibility

The upcoming camaro is going to be a 455hp/455lb tq, 3600lb, 53" ride height, beastly tire wearing, magnetic ride control styling, 1LE bench marking, first elect steer with real feedback in sport and track mode.... And a stock moderate track suspension.

The Z is heading toward novelty car.

I remember my 09 Z felt so visceral. My 11 was visceral but slightly muted, the 13 went deeper into the GT world. The Z gets softer instead of more aggressive but key disturbances in the car haven't been fixed.

I think my Z is awesome In spite of, but reality is, Nissan has created a formula for failure when updating this car. Things that should've been looked into. Not necessarily in this order.

1. Direct injection
2. Weight reduction but to add some insulation around the wheels
3. Better tires
4. Adjusting the suspension for slightly improved stock cornering.
5. Exhaust tuning
6. CSC failures
7.a better interior update
8. Throttle response improvements

The Z never needed a external refresh till about now since they went so long. But improved radio, soft touch upper doors, better quality plastics on the console and door controls have been much needed.

Nissan totally missed the bus in updating this car. Though we buy it for a different reason, the right changes would've attracted more new buyers.

There would have to be a cease in RWD car production for the Z value to maintain. Demand is low for a Z. I just don't see it. We lucky it was holding value pretty strong till 2013. Now, there's a lot of good Z deals. From my vantage point. We're seriously headed toward novelty car.

At the very least the next Z needs to compete with American muscle and/or other 2 seat cars. In the sense of power, tracking, and price.

The whole time I thought they were working on the next Z cause of that Jay Leno video where he paid Nissan a visit....did they scrap their original plan or something?? :shakes head:

They got their heads up their a$$ right now. Because they don't know which direction they want to go with the next Z. There's no leadership (motorheads) in the company. Just look at the LeMans car.
