2015 Nismo Conversion on 2012 Base

6 Attachment(s)
Lately I have really wanted the new 2015 Nismo look but was unsure if it was possible on my 2012 base model. Soo... I went ahead and tried the full conversion on my 2012. The conversion was excellent... Check out the photo's
For those interested, just know it is possible but costly to an extent. I'm going to keep my wing on it however, I think it looks better with it.

How much of an edge is there between the rear bumper and the hatch lid?

vtec to vvel 06-12-2015 08:24 PM

LOL i can just see this happening:

come time for you to trade in your car and you don't feel like swapping everything back to stock and give to the dealership as in. Dealerships don't know any better and advertise/sell as Nismo model to a dude that doesn't know any better bc it will be his first Nissan Z. He posts pics and brags (perhaps even ask as to why his car doesn't have SRM) about his ride only to find out it's not a true nismo, but rather the bare bones base model.

Probably won't happen considering most willing to pay the premium for new nismos would check to see if the seats were the OEM recaros.

JCarter370z 06-13-2015 07:37 AM

Theres roughly an inch or half inch

which is why if you read my scenario, i do state that it would be a dude that wouldn't know any better and also his first Z, thus wouldn't know what to look for, other than it saying nismo and just buying....

i am positive these things have happened before.

cooltoy 06-13-2015 09:51 AM

Only a person not shrewd enough to research a car before buying one could fall for that (which is what you said). And if they don't do research, they can only blame themselves.

yep, and unfortunately, we live in a world full of dumba$$es. so honestly, it really wouldn't surprise me if joe schmoe was dumb enough to buy a non-nismo at a nismo price point.

but to the OP, car looks great!

Waiz 06-14-2015 12:09 PM

Looks really good, much better than how it was before

rli2bcz 06-15-2015 09:08 PM

You need to make your headlights black.

cooltoy 06-15-2015 11:31 PM

Why?

benji 06-17-2015 10:28 AM

anyone looking for a Z should know that a 12 nismo would not have that body kit anyways. on a side note, that makes me want to slap on a nismo badge on my sport when it comes time to sell and see what happens:tup: (jk)

Yes sir that's right, this is a one of a kind 2009 Nissan 370z Nismo Sticker Edition.

CanadianSteel 09-11-2015 11:10 PM

I'm about to do something pretty similar to this with my car in the same color so I'm really curious. I'm hoping the edge of the 15 bumper doesn't drive me nuts when I see it with a sports package spoiler.

Gianni 12-04-2015 03:12 PM

Looks so good! For the rear bumper will I need anything or does the bumper just replace the older one? Plug and play?

TerribleONE 12-04-2015 03:22 PM

Nice!

JCarter370z 02-20-2016 03:30 PM

Plug an play, the rear bumper connects fine, small gap

Greed 02-22-2016 11:06 PM

Nicely done!

Why the gap?

Because of the 15-16 nismo hatch has that small duckbill which makes the hatch sit a little lower than non-nismo..

It is really not that noticiable or a big deal.

cooltoy 02-25-2016 08:40 PM

Maybe a slightly better (or more clear) explanation is that, the Nismo's wing is a large piece (not just a wing) that covers the hatch below the wing and extends all the way down to the edge of the hatch.
In order to compensate for the extra thickness added to the edge of the hatch by the wing, Nissan needed to make the portion of the rear bumper, that meets the hatch, stick out a bit further in order to sit flush with the now extended hatch.
When the bumper is put on a non-Nismo without the Nismo wing, the bumper will now stick out slightly past the edge of the hatch.

cooltoy 02-25-2016 08:42 PM

Well, maybe my explanation is not clearer. :icon14::icon23:

Dirk McGurck 02-25-2016 08:42 PM

Hm. I never noticed. I want the Nismo kit, but that might make me look at a different rear bumper. I'd have to see it in person.

cooltoy 02-25-2016 08:44 PM

It would bug the heck out of me, but some people don't care.

cooltoy 02-25-2016 08:47 PM

Here you can see how the wing sits over the hatch.

Here is the gap without the wing.

Wow...never noticed that it was a one piece full wing that sat on the hatch like that....I was always under the impression that it was the same kind of wing that they put on the Sport/Tech Package.....I mean from a distance it looks like the same kind of wing.

chrismau808 03-03-2016 10:05 AM

Hey was wondering, did you use your oem fender liners or had to use the 15 nismo liners? thanks

Nice job.... I actually wanted to do the same thing to my 14 but the shops in my area don't really like fooling with that kind of stuff and charge a arm and a leg to do it. And yes I'm way to damn lazy and impatient to do it myself. :hello:

utaz 03-05-2016 02:28 AM

What was the total cost?
