2015 Nismo Conversion on 2012 Base
6 Attachment(s)
Lately I have really wanted the new 2015 Nismo look but was unsure if it was possible on my 2012 base model. Soo... I went ahead and tried the full conversion on my 2012. The conversion was excellent... Check out the photo's
For those interested, just know it is possible but costly to an extent. I'm going to keep my wing on it however, I think it looks better with it. |
How much of an edge is there between the rear bumper and the hatch lid?
|
LOL i can just see this happening:
come time for you to trade in your car and you don't feel like swapping everything back to stock and give to the dealership as in. Dealerships don't know any better and advertise/sell as Nismo model to a dude that doesn't know any better bc it will be his first Nissan Z. He posts pics and brags (perhaps even ask as to why his car doesn't have SRM) about his ride only to find out it's not a true nismo, but rather the bare bones base model. |

Probably won't happen considering most willing to pay the premium for new nismos would check to see if the seats were the OEM recaros. |
Theres roughly an inch or half inch

i am positive these things have happened before. |
Only a person not shrewd enough to research a car before buying one could fall for that (which is what you said). And if they don't do research, they can only blame themselves.

but to the OP, car looks great! |
Looks really good, much better than how it was before

You need to make your headlights black.
|
Why?
|
anyone looking for a Z should know that a 12 nismo would not have that body kit anyways. on a side note, that makes me want to slap on a nismo badge on my sport when it comes time to sell and see what happens:tup: (jk)

I'm about to do something pretty similar to this with my car in the same color so I'm really curious. I'm hoping the edge of the 15 bumper doesn't drive me nuts when I see it with a sports package spoiler.
|
Looks so good! For the rear bumper will I need anything or does the bumper just replace the older one? Plug and play?
|
Nice!
|
Plug an play, the rear bumper connects fine, small gap
|
Nicely done!

It is really not that noticiable or a big deal. |
Maybe a slightly better (or more clear) explanation is that, the Nismo's wing is a large piece (not just a wing) that covers the hatch below the wing and extends all the way down to the edge of the hatch.
In order to compensate for the extra thickness added to the edge of the hatch by the wing, Nissan needed to make the portion of the rear bumper, that meets the hatch, stick out a bit further in order to sit flush with the now extended hatch. When the bumper is put on a non-Nismo without the Nismo wing, the bumper will now stick out slightly past the edge of the hatch. |
Well, maybe my explanation is not clearer. :icon14::icon23:
|
Hm. I never noticed. I want the Nismo kit, but that might make me look at a different rear bumper. I'd have to see it in person.
|
It would bug the heck out of me, but some people don't care.
|
Here you can see how the wing sits over the hatch.

Hey was wondering, did you use your oem fender liners or had to use the 15 nismo liners? thanks

Nice job.... I actually wanted to do the same thing to my 14 but the shops in my area don't really like fooling with that kind of stuff and charge a arm and a leg to do it. And yes I'm way to damn lazy and impatient to do it myself. :hello:
|
What was the total cost?
