25k maintenance

Hola amigos - I will soon be hitting 25k and wanted to know what (if anything) I should be looking out for, flushing/replacing etc. any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance

Have you read the owner's manual? Pretty much everything is listed.

You're probably coming up on brake fluid and differential fluid at 30K miles IIRC.

Its always good to flush ur csc cylinder, errrr if you have one.

Spooler 05-30-2015 09:59 PM

30K maintenance is the big one. Clutch Fluid, brake fluid, oil, air filter, in cabin air filter, Tranny fluid, Diff fluid, Coolant.

If you do not race, is everything you list necessary? Do you replace all of it?

Yes, everything I mentioned. Normal maintenance. Do this again at 60K and at 90K everything including spark plugs. Belts should be done around 60k to 90k miles. It depends on what they look like. Any cracking in the ribs, they will need to be replaced.

Is this manufacturer recommended or "dealer suggested"?

I don't think that is quite correct. Trans fluid and coolant are actually never given a specific mileage for replacements. IIRC, it just says inspect the trans fluids every 30K miles, and the coolant gets inspected at 100K miles. Of course, I'm not quite sure how you inspect the transmission fluid without draining it :icon14:

However, I agree with replacing all those fluids because it is just a good idea. I do my diff and transmission every 15-25K miles already even as a DD. Probably could leave out the coolant flush as it's more hassle to DIY or more costly if you pay someone. Any track time significantly decreases the life of pretty much all the fluids you listed. Most DD that drive easy can follow Nissan's recommended maintenance schedule in the owner's manual. But if you drive the car hard, it's best to err on the side of replacing fluids earlier rather than letting them go, especially considering fluids are cheap and easy to DIY.

Look in your owners manual.

thanks to this thread i have now overly paranoid adjusted my next maintanence to include a clutch/brake fluid swap to the RBF 600 before my road trip.

kenchan 06-01-2015 10:36 AM

no need mishuko. it's all in ur head.

people change brake fluid too often anyway. these days i only change it when the pedal gets spungy (sp?)

it has been feeling a little soft on the warmer days... but that could also be the brakes getting worn down too.

my schedule says to do it at 24k... it wasn't done at my last oil change (around 23.5k) so it's kinda sticking to the maintanence schedule.

now only if they put something about the clutch fluid.... :stirthepot:

Lol omg past 2 cars I've had I've sold before 25k miles..... so true.....

Z never get to 25k miles

90 ST 06-01-2015 12:46 PM

Maintenance schedules are to make the dealers rich! don't believe any of it.

Kenchan has the right idea!

But really, if you don't his kinda money and you need to maintain your current car, this is what I've been doing.
4,500 mile engine oil, Redline
16-20k Clutch Fluid
60k Miles
All other fluids and belt
85k plugs.
The other stuff brakes, etc as needed.

considering you're the god of miles, your opinion is pretty valid.

bit of a hijack, did you send the samples in yet?

jpkirk 06-01-2015 01:08 PM

So, not all intervals are in the owners manual. Check the maintenance guide. Here is a link for a 2014 version (my car)

Not yet, waiting till the next oil change, couple weeks yet. I'll update the 200,000 mile thread once I do. :)
