sucks man, I am sorry that happened to you. Any security cameras around or anything like that?

Looks like they broke/kicked the glass and climbed thru the window.

I'm getting the glass tomorrow from the dealer where I purchased the car for $265. Cleaning up the broken glass and installing the new one will be tomorrows task.

The broken/damaged plastic parts I will get from Ebay.

This was purely amateur hour, they tried to pry the plastic from around the radio.

The starter button was separated found the parts and put it back together hit the button and she came to life!!!!

I have a tilt module installed I guess I need to cover more bases of protection.

Can you see your car from your apartment? I would seriously look at putting a security camera in a window or something facing it. More than likely the culprits are neighbors and might try to hit it again. You can even get cameras that have audible alarms on motion sensing to let you know someone is near the car.

I would genuinely enjoy giving those perps a good old fashioned curb stomp.

So you're going to put her back together yourself? Why not insurance?

Or buying the parts from eBay and giving to the autoshop to pocket more from insurance? :stirthepot:

Insurance will usually cut him a check for the damage amount minus deductible. He can then take it somewhere to get worked on or DIY and pocket most of that money.

Seems like such a hassle though.

Although if you are still making payments you may have to let someone else work on it. I had an insurance claim on a car years ago after someone hit my fender. Put a very minor dent in it and insurance gave me 1200 to get it fixed. I didn't want to fix it at all, but because I was making payments they made the check out to me and the car loan bank. The car loan bank would not release the money to me until I paid the car off. So that 1200 sat in their bank for a couple years earning interest (lol) and the day I paid off the car they gave me the check.

Weird, but some times you are at their mercy.

In the future turn your wheels all the way to the left or right in park, it helps deter wheel thieves from targeting your car.

Sorry to hear what happened. :(

I would look into installing a glass and shock sensor.

I've had my rear hatch window busted out by pieces of shit awhile back

Im still pissed those fuks cost me close to $500 in damages.

I run a "kill map" on my tune so I can't be hot wired, but I think with the new keys and encryption that's probably overkill. I've also looked into dash cams but they don't seem likely to catch wheel thieves.

kidkotic2001 05-15-2015 01:06 PM

Fuken ay this gets me super upset, $h!ts like this need to be caught and killed. This once caught they should be taken to the the person that they stole from and let that person have at them.

Sorry about the break in I feel for ya. I had a car broken into before and it sucks. BUt at least now you can get a new radio and maybe extra cash from your insurance.
