So after bitchin and complaining to the insurance adjuster about my rear cover I get my car back Wed!!!! just in time for the varsity meet in Atlanta! woohoo! I guess I complained enough to have them buy a replacement cover :D It sucks they wont cover the exhaust... the only way to tell what the problems are with the baffles is to cut open the canister and if they feel that the canister is fine I have to pay for the labor and new exhaust :( what bull crap. So I get to live with it for a lil bit until I get my new exhaust...

I got some good things comming this way for my build :D

The police still haven't found the culprit?

kdo2milger 11-02-2009 12:14 PM

good to here thay are giving you the bumper...

whats going on with the exhaust? did the hit tweak the tips or crack some welds?

bullitt5897 11-02-2009 01:12 PM

No they havent found the culprit and I will be calling the police if they havent found him by weeks end. It damaged the baffles from the hit is my guess as I had a rattling sound after the accident and then it just stopped... The car exhaust note got louder and the note began to have a funky non-harmonizing sound on decel and acel... The problem is the tips held together great and not much damage was done to them besides being pushed in about 1/4"-1/2"... but the insurance company doesnt care and because they cant recognize the sound changes they arent going to do sh!t :( I pay close to $500 a month in insurance premiums (dont ask why they are so high) I figure the adjuster could work with me on the deal!

i would still persue the exhaust thing...tell the adjuster your not satisfied with his decision and demand (politely) to talk with his supervisor...problem with these adjusters is if you dont push them they will shut you down to get away with doing as little as possible to keep the repair bill down...

bullitt5897 11-02-2009 05:44 PM

I will do that ;) thanks

Ive never had to have my exhaust covered under warrenty so Im not sure but dont insurance companies cover whats on the car when in an accident? Or do you have to tell them your mods and have them adjust the coverage?

bullitt5897 11-05-2009 10:26 AM

UPDATE!

I got the car back late last night and I must say ARTCRAFT did such an amazing job with everything!!! The paint matches perfectly and they painted my rear emblem satin black to match the rear center section of the bumper for free :D however the insurance company has not replaced the exhaust which with the new bumper shows how off the exhaust is... And I still can hear the broken baffle in the exaust too. Jeff heard it last night with me and agrees they need to replace it. I will have pics up soon :excited:

Awesome, Mike. Any update on whether or not they caught the douchebag?

I would fight that. You pay insurance to cover everything on your vehicle. If there is damage you can fight it and win.

I had my exhaust pipes and shocks replaced in my motorcycle because of a hairline scratch in the chrome. No sh*t.

no catchy of the douchebag that I know of... and frankly I am just glad i got my baby back! If I see him I am gonna follow him at a distance and call the cops hehe sneak attack like a freaking NINJA! Im not going to waste my time hunting down this a**hole because he isnt worth my time!

ohhh trust me I have already called and I am having them come out and do another estimate on the exhaust alone. They are going to replace the WHOLE exhaust Im not settling for just the muffler! If the muffler and tips are moved this much it would affect the front pipes as well and they will be bent or out of alignment. soo aftermarket exhaust here I come :D

Insurance companies CAN balk about aftermarket parts. But, you can usually get them to do it, if you just keep on holding back on signing that check/agreement.

Some dealers will work with you on accident claims - adjusters never get it right, and dealers can pad numbers or not swap parts and give you the rest to cover your deductible or you can swap out items on the list for replacement with aftermarket.

bullitt5897 11-05-2009 10:46 AM

^^^ very true! I had ARTCRAFT not install the 370z emblem and not to replace an inner panel that had broken tabs and they gave me some serious money back :D my deductible is normally $250 and I only had to pay $46.93 :D I love my sponsors they treat me good :D

I would have the dealer do the estimate. Seriously...insurance adjusters never give the correct amount. On top of that, they can check for "other issues" :)
