its funny you say that cause thats not what progressive wants to do!!!:mad::mad::mad:

Seriously, I have been on the phone twice today demanding that they replace the cover... but he is fixed on wanting to repair it and is having the shop sand the paint off for him to take a 3rd look at the bumper to determine whether it be replaced or repaired! He told me it was too hard to tell and that the cracks were not big enough to outright replace it!!! I swear if he says they are going to repair this bumper I am going to his supervisor and up the ladder kicking and screaming! They are also refusing to repair the exhaust too! I need to cool down cause between this guy and my ex today I need to shoot something!!!

wtf!

i hope he doesnt intend to bondo repair a plastic-cracked bumper...that will not last a week before it shows the original crack under the bondo...

definately take it up the ladder if this ins. estimater (joker) doesnt submit for replacement bumper...

bullitt5897 11-02-2009 11:14 AM

So after bitchin and complaining to the insurance adjuster about my rear cover I get my car back Wed!!!! just in time for the varsity meet in Atlanta! woohoo! I guess I complained enough to have them buy a replacement cover :D It sucks they wont cover the exhaust... the only way to tell what the problems are with the baffles is to cut open the canister and if they feel that the canister is fine I have to pay for the labor and new exhaust :( what bull crap. So I get to live with it for a lil bit until I get my new exhaust...

I got some good things comming this way for my build :D

JungleB 11-02-2009 11:26 AM

The police still haven't found the culprit?

kdo2milger 11-02-2009 12:14 PM

good to here thay are giving you the bumper...

whats going on with the exhaust? did the hit tweak the tips or crack some welds?

bullitt5897 11-02-2009 01:12 PM

No they havent found the culprit and I will be calling the police if they havent found him by weeks end. It damaged the baffles from the hit is my guess as I had a rattling sound after the accident and then it just stopped... The car exhaust note got louder and the note began to have a funky non-harmonizing sound on decel and acel... The problem is the tips held together great and not much damage was done to them besides being pushed in about 1/4"-1/2"... but the insurance company doesnt care and because they cant recognize the sound changes they arent going to do sh!t :( I pay close to $500 a month in insurance premiums (dont ask why they are so high) I figure the adjuster could work with me on the deal!

kdo2milger 11-02-2009 05:26 PM

i would still persue the exhaust thing...tell the adjuster your not satisfied with his decision and demand (politely) to talk with his supervisor...problem with these adjusters is if you dont push them they will shut you down to get away with doing as little as possible to keep the repair bill down...

bullitt5897 11-02-2009 05:44 PM

I will do that ;) thanks

Zsteve 11-02-2009 06:32 PM

Ive never had to have my exhaust covered under warrenty so Im not sure but dont insurance companies cover whats on the car when in an accident? Or do you have to tell them your mods and have them adjust the coverage?

bullitt5897 11-05-2009 10:26 AM

UPDATE!

I got the car back late last night and I must say ARTCRAFT did such an amazing job with everything!!! The paint matches perfectly and they painted my rear emblem satin black to match the rear center section of the bumper for free :D however the insurance company has not replaced the exhaust which with the new bumper shows how off the exhaust is... And I still can hear the broken baffle in the exaust too. Jeff heard it last night with me and agrees they need to replace it. I will have pics up soon :excited:

semtex 11-05-2009 10:32 AM

Awesome, Mike. Any update on whether or not they caught the douchebag?

I would fight that. You pay insurance to cover everything on your vehicle. If there is damage you can fight it and win.

I had my exhaust pipes and shocks replaced in my motorcycle because of a hairline scratch in the chrome. No sh*t.

bullitt5897 11-05-2009 10:40 AM

no catchy of the douchebag that I know of... and frankly I am just glad i got my baby back! If I see him I am gonna follow him at a distance and call the cops hehe sneak attack like a freaking NINJA! Im not going to waste my time hunting down this a**hole because he isnt worth my time!

ohhh trust me I have already called and I am having them come out and do another estimate on the exhaust alone. They are going to replace the WHOLE exhaust Im not settling for just the muffler! If the muffler and tips are moved this much it would affect the front pipes as well and they will be bent or out of alignment. soo aftermarket exhaust here I come :D

Insurance companies CAN balk about aftermarket parts. But, you can usually get them to do it, if you just keep on holding back on signing that check/agreement.

Some dealers will work with you on accident claims - adjusters never get it right, and dealers can pad numbers or not swap parts and give you the rest to cover your deductible or you can swap out items on the list for replacement with aftermarket.

bullitt5897 11-05-2009 10:46 AM

^^^ very true! I had ARTCRAFT not install the 370z emblem and not to replace an inner panel that had broken tabs and they gave me some serious money back :D my deductible is normally $250 and I only had to pay $46.93 :D I love my sponsors they treat me good :D

I would have the dealer do the estimate. Seriously...insurance adjusters never give the correct amount. On top of that, they can check for "other issues" :)

bullitt5897 11-05-2009 10:52 AM

Alright I will do that... I have a buddy in the service department hehe maybe slip him a $20 to give me a good estimate :D hehehe

bullitt5897 11-13-2009 03:11 PM

UPDATE!!!! And an AWESOME one too!!! Progressive is going to give me a check for over $2000 for the exhaust! woohoo that should offset some of the Project build! Now I just wait for that check and the deminished value check as well :D

kdo2milger 11-13-2009 03:12 PM

MindFusion FX 11-14-2009 07:39 AM

kdo2milger 11-14-2009 12:41 PM

bullitt5897 11-16-2009 06:39 PM

UPDATE: and you all thought it was over....

Well guess what! today at 5pm my motor BLEW sky high! mmmmmm fun :(

there are only two outcomes that I see happening:
Option 1: Covered under warranty and get new motor...
Option 2: Covered under Insurance which will lead to a completely rebuilt motor by forged + a few additions :D

Hopefully they will total the engine...

kdo2milger 11-16-2009 06:44 PM

blown engine!

how the hell did that happen?

bullitt5897 11-16-2009 07:00 PM

I have no idea but I will know exactly what happened tomorrow.

kdo2milger 11-16-2009 07:23 PM

i wonder if your timing chain broke too...

what did it sound/feel like at that crucial moment...

bullitt5897 11-16-2009 07:48 PM

Well, lets look at the facts:

-car was rearended
-Car had noises coming from floor board area (exact area of Cats)
-Car day one from accident made noises in the ehxaust and tone of exhaust note sounded like a broken baffle.
-As of the past few days I have noticed the sound getting progressively louder
-Under 3500 rpm it felt like the car had 0 and I mean 0 torque! (it was like the car was a 4 banger)
-Today the car while under power felt like I had a diff failure like it could grab then slip then grab again. I was planning on taking the car in today.
-Leaving any red light in first almost required 1/2 throttle to get it off the line.
-The noise got really bad today so I tried to baby it back to the dealership and the motor blew only 1/2 mile from the dealership.
- I was driving in 4th gear about 4k rpm about to shift when... boom smoke and the gauge cluster lit up like a christmas tree! Engine Failure!
- Toward the dealer ship I could feel the valves starting to float hence why I was short shifting and coasting most of the way.

kdo2milger 11-16-2009 07:52 PM

holy sh!t!!!

all this caused from a rearend collision too :shakes head:

sob, nissan you have some splainen to do!!! :icon14:

bullitt5897 11-16-2009 08:01 PM

also the only time I could hear the noise was on accel...

the sound sounded like a spray paint can in the exhaust and not rhythmic to the engine until it was about to blow in which I could hear as every pulse of the engine I could hear the rattle come through the floor board.

kdo2milger 11-16-2009 08:05 PM

weird...:shakes head:

keep us posted br0!

i am curious to know what the failure was/is...

LETSGOEERS06 12-09-2009 11:08 AM

It seems like everyone gets rearended in their z's I say everyone just writes letters to nissan and have them make that rear "light" actually work.

You said don't ask but....$500 a month in car insurance premiums? Do you claim every month or something?
