Broken tach!

I backed out of the shop this morning and I noticed when my car was idleing my tach was reading like the car wasent even turned on the needle was dropped way below 0 rpms

I drove the car to work and I noticed when I should have been at 3k rpm the tach was only reading 1k so I'm thinking something is wrong I haven't done any aftermarket upgrades to the car yet so it's 100% stock

Should I take it in?

You need to ask us whether to get your car fixed? Dude bring it in, get it fixed (while you can for free)?

since the tach is still operational...

have you tried disconnecting the battery to reset the ecu...

just a thought, may save you a trip to the dealer, then again may not...

Z34_OF_DOOM 10-18-2009 10:37 AM

Thank you, kdo2milger, for an educated response.

I'll give that a try. I appreciate it.

I'd argue the tach is not operational. Likewise, sure, maybe you can reset the thing. But, it failed for a reason. I bet it'll keep failing. Why mess with it yourself? Take it straight to the dealer and let them replace/repair it.

I guess you just don't get it?Now I understand why you felt the need to ask if you should take it to the dealer!

why do ppl always ask if they should take it to the dealer, its like they are asking whether to turn themselves in.....lol

you should not take it in and just live with it

Blown32, I liked that comment "Is a Bull Frog waterproof?" hahah

To the OP, maybe this one will make more sense, "Does a bear shit in the woods?"
