Yikes. Normal driving or was this on a track?

I'd be pissed! I really like the SRT8 Jeep.

Oh he was livid. But once he started explaining the story that it was his wife's DD and she drives like a grandma and it happened while STOPPED, they pretty much had no response.

Speaking of the GC SRT8, I "raced" a first gen one the other day against my 2016 Nismo. We were side by side at the lights. When they went green, we both started off civilly.. then we looked at each other and decided to punch it. We were probably rolling at 8-10mph and then both hit the throttle. I was literally side by side with him for the remainder of 1st, all of 2nd and a little into 3rd when we both let off. Side by side the whole time.

470hp sounds cool... until you realize it's moving 5000 pounds.

Haha, if im paying a grand a month for a car it better have a P or an M or an AMG in the name.

Jeeps are popular, and I think Fiat-Chrysler is the only company in the Big 3 to make a profit, or increase sales in the US. But Chrysler and especially the Jeep brand is always at the bottom of the reliability list (consumer reports, etc.). I guess Jeep owners don't care about lists.... until their Jeep breaks down

Oh now I get it... Talk about the wrong tool for the job.

Yeah Nissan never made the Z a better drag car, or much of a better car at all. Oil cooler is about it.

But it's a great sports coupe, it has been since 2009. Drag car? Not so much.

Maybe it was because it was a rolling start? Maybe he didn't floor the go pedal? I surely did. :rofl2: it was the original SRT8, not the current one.

Actually I am looking forward to the day when I finally get my Z to a drag strip. I see it as a challenge. Especially in a MT without any sort of launch control. Of course the drag strip is not it's strong suit. But that doesn't mean it's not a good time :driving:

And don't give Nissan any credit for that garbage oil cooler. It doesn't do $hit. You still can't beat on it for any length of time, so it's pointless

You can't beat on most showroom stock cars for any length of time without something overheating, and the ones you can cost a lot more than $30K- $40K. :twocents:

Plenty of guys take the stock Z with the stock Z oil cooler to the track and run 2 - 3 good laps before the car gets too hot in general. On the street, I've never had a problem with my oil-cooler-equipped Z, but I did have my 2011 get up in the 250 range just from cruising in 5th on the highway. Maybe that oil cooler does something after all.

I'm more pissed about the fuel issue, no point in whining about an easy fix like an oil cooler when you fuel starve before you can even get the car hot enough to go into limp mode.

Nithmo 09-16-2016 10:04 AM

Wait... what fuel issue? Sorry... noob here.

Just thought I would come back in and update. I purchased a 2016 Hellcat about a year and half ago and stoked to even this day every time I drive it.
Lightly molded its putting 750rwhp and runs mid 10s quarter mile.
I have also heard there will be a new twin turbo Z coming out in a few year which I will say it's about time.
Hope you guys are still enjoying your Z's!!
