A few posts back I mentioned that I went to my local Nissan dealer (Miami), spoke to a sale guy in passing and he mentioned the next Z would be out in "2 years". At the time, I didn't take it very seriously.

I went back to the same dealership today to get an alignment and a few other things done. While I was waiting, I had a different sales guy approach me about trading my Z in for a newer one. As we were walking out to their lot to look at their used Zs, I just straight up asked him when the next new Z model was coming out and he said "2021" with no hesitation whatsoever.

That is now 2 different sales guys at the same dealership who have told me 2021 is the year for the next Z model. Make of it what you will.

It will be a refreshed. But it wont be a whole new z.
Meaning it will have the same skeletal structure. Assuming here.
It's pretty obvious they will use the q60 3.0tt engine.
Let's hope it's better than the current gen and plz let's hope they update the interior to keep up with the current trend.
Z's interior is inferior

Completely agree. Based on reporting, Nissan's last abysmal quarterly report, and the state of sports cars in general, I don't see them putting a ton of R&D into an entirely new platform.
That being said, it's just nice to have some type of validation that at least something is coming after a decade.

Default The new Z looks just like a 240z

If that's the new Z? Awesome!!! I love the original Z.

Yeah, I'm totally in if that's near to what the next gen Z resembles.

Its interesting. As long they keel the car a wider and short as in height profile, the new Z would look great.
If they make it taller and thin like the original, that's a no go for me.

This would be one of the smartest moves Nissan has done in a long time!

Crazy u said that cuz I was thinking kinda the same. On the original it's not really that bad cuz it's still a tiny car...
But with today's safety tech, it's easy to make that design look bloated and high...

But I trust nissan in terms of fluid designs. Despite my harsh criticisms of the Q60. Its still beautiful af. It just needs a better console, chassis and tranny

The original 240z, it fits for that era. But it wont fly imo or at least it wouldn't for me.
The wide, short profile gives it an exotic look. Hence why all the exotic cars has that look.

As long the wheelbase isnt too short. Hopefully it wont be short like the bmw supra.
Maybe they keep the same 100'' wheelbase like the current Z.

Although the 350 was a little longer.

And let's hope nissan isnt in the fake vents game like the bmw supra

And the headlight design would have to be different cause it looks like a Porsche. At least the electric porsche

Unless if u mean the bulb part? The headlights actually look exactly like the 240z. If Porsche has them now? They took an old design. And those headlight were copied off a 60's Ferrari Daytona... So I guess we have a whirlwind here?

In my dream, the designers' challenge has been to make a new, 21st Century-looking design based firmly on the existing 370z dimensions/underpinnings, with 240z echoes. My heart is fluttering already.
