Add leather to base model to increase resale?

Do you guys think adding leather to a base would increase its resale value? I have a local shop that can install leather for $699. It seems like a good deal and personally I would prefer the leather if I was shopping for a Z again.

There are lots of variables, but my feeling is it's not going to increase the value of the car by $700 :twocents:

Aftermarket mods typically don't add any value to a car. It depends on the buyer. When it comes time to sell the leather seats might be of value to a buyer, but definitely not $699 worth.

depends on the buyer when you're selling the car. i personally hate leather and after my acura would never want leather seats again. so if it was me i wouldn't buy your car.

Thanks guys. I will just leave it as it is then and let the next owner put leather in if that is there preference.

unless you do private sale, probably wont make much of a difference.

I think it will on a trade in. They'll be too dumb to know its not actually touring

You never really get back what you put in. Just keep the car!

I figured a trade in they would be at least smart enough to run the VIN and see the model & options, but maybe not.

That's the least reliable way of seeing what packages a car came with

I figured with the VIN you could pull up the cars history and build information, which would include add ons or options.

That is true, seen many 370z listed as 350z, auto sports with no sport package options, etc.
Guess it comes down to the info is shown, just people/dealerships are lazy or do not care for the details.
