I just used the GTR as an example. I have not driven a flappy paddle Z. I'm not denying it's still a great car, but you can't replicate the 3rd pedal. I'm well aware today's autos shift faster than any manual, usually put up quicker lap times, and a lot of high performance cars are moving towards them. I still prefer having 3 pedals.

I like the extra room where my foot lays not having a 3rd peddle around. Just knowing I can shift from the shifter up or down or left and right or put in D and relax in traffic. All great things

As long as we enjoy the cars we drive, that's all that counts in the end.

Gotta love the manual fanboy support. :excited:

More ATs are sold than MTs. Playing Vegas numbers, you have a better chance of reselling and getting more for an AT over a MT.

at least for me, i have a choice AT or MT, not like some of you lame car guy wannabies who can only drive AT's. :icon17:
its not so much the car or the tranny, it's the person claiming to be some car fanatic that cant drive MT's. like really drive MT's not just a to b.

The lack of a third pedal is a deal breaker for me. I went the SMG route with a BMW. Within a couple years I traded it for stick.

I started driving manuals when I was very young and have been hooked every since. I'm quite older now and got into luxury autos. But still had the urge of wanting a stick again. So I bought the Z. Of course, the Z is not my DD; the Lexus is.

I had a Lexus GS350 F-Sport with paddle shifters for a few days. I purposely tried using the paddle shifters but never could get the hang of it. To me, it took a lot more thinking to get the up shifts and down shifts right. As opposed to shifting being second nature in my manual Z...almost no thinking involved.

There will always be people who want to drive a stick. I purchased my Z in the past month. I've been searching for a Z for over a year now and I held one thing constant in my search. Had to be a stick shift. The percentage of 350z's (was originally in market for 350) was 60% auto, 40% manual. The manual is the rarer of the two by far. Most people I saw bought auto's, which i never understood, why would you buy a sports car all about uniqueness and driver focus and let it shift for you.

I can tell you for a fact that people of my generation, IE college kids, who love cars, want manuals. People who do not love cars are convinced it is useless.

Given the fact that you are looking to eventually sell a manual 370z, I would not have any qualms about not finding a buyer. Most people looking for 370z's used are going to be looking for a wonderful drivers car, which strengthens the argument for a manual car over an auto.

Good luck on you future endeavors. But please do not lose faith in my generation, we aren't all complete idiots, we will save the manuals for many generations to come.

Im not saying that driving the auto with the paddles is the BEST, But is very fun and makes for fun to drive, I had NO choice when buying mine as the X (G37 Sedan) do not come in manual. If they did I would have gotten one. But it you cant drive the with the paddles and still "Feel" when to shift you shouldn't be driving a Z, LOL I can shift with out looking you can still feel the power band :/

I was able to find a G35 6MT sedan years ago. Really fun family car. Not sure if they nuked them when the G37 came out. All I remember is my dealer saying a silver G35 6MT sport sedan was one of the most rare combos at the time.

that's cool. G35's back then didnt have rev-matching on the AT's so those cars were really for grandma's, not just the magma reds.

No they made the 6sp manual for G37 sedan, my issue is I need a AWD sedan( North east) and the AWD doesn't have an option for a manual.

Using the manual mode on the autos you can still feel when to shift was all I was saying, someone made reference to have to look when to shift :/
