Thanks FPenvy!

I still think they will roll the Q60 first... If there is a delay in the Q60 then there will be a delay in the Z. The infiniti G series was always the test bed for the Z. We havent even seen the Q series road testing so they are definitely a few years out. Atleast one year in advance we will see camo'd protorypes on the ring or on the roads. There has been nothing so far just rumors...

Goosebumps....activated.

brucelidat 02-17-2015 12:27 PM

There is no way it'll be under 3k lbs. The best we can hope for is equal or slightly lighter weight with the big power bump.

carlitos_370z 02-17-2015 12:30 PM

damn i hope this is true bro!

but if what I was told of it being a body design issue then why hold back a car that's ready (Z) and miss out of sales?

I agree with the lack of road tests and spy shots so far it does make one worry about the timeline in general. just seems like they are playing this one very close to the chest based on zero solid info on the Z so far.

i would love for some official info and statements soon. bright side Geneva may hold some promise for info.....i hope. think that's 2 weeks away

Hello everyone.

I know that over the past few months we have speculated, talked about, and argued over many rumors and leaked details over the very secretive new Z.

only details we have had to go on so far is some possibilities tossed in interviews from Nissan execs and the details of the 2016 Q60 that was shown. the details of that debut has given us all renewed hope and dreams of the next Z will/can offer.

now for the fun stuff:

last night I stopped by the Pittsburgh auto show for it's last night of the event. very nice to go last day since the crowd was very small and made it easy to navigate. and yes I know this isn't a bug name auto show and what could possibly come from it but you'd be surprised as to what you can hear from reps at these shows as well. I learned this last night first hand.

stopped at the infiniti area and was looking around. I made a comment as to why they didn't have a Q60 there mostly joking since again this isn't one of the top tier locations for auto makers and shows. the rep I was with went on to tell me they actually had one coming but due to the winter storms their truck hauling a few vehicles could not make it.

he then went on to tell me (off the record of course) that the Q80 is pretty much shelved for now and if anything it'll be a loooooooong shot 2017/18 idea.....if anything at all. I guess cutting into the GT-R market is still a big no no.

he also said that due to design stuff and some other issues we will be seeing a Z prior to the Q60 launch. so I would take from that comment that the Q60 is delayed at least a year now as well. also mentioned that the Z update has a chance of early 2016 release but most likely will be a fall 2016 if all goes according to plan.

the Z will most likely be TT since he smirked and asked "do you think you're ready for over 400 horsepower?" :excited:

I would assume with the few big car shows coming up we should be getting some new solid info on the Z very soon.

note: this was all just discussion between a rep. so please if anything doesn't end up being true remember I never said this is guaranteed. i'm just helping out the community with sharing info that was told to me. if not true then I am sorry and will be just as sad as the rest of you.

Im holding you to it FPenvy. Prepare for beating if this doesnt come true! :horse:

I hope so too! I was very interested in the Q60! At the earliest I would think the Q or Z will be a late late 2017 release as a 2018 model.

:iagree:

i too was really intrigued by the Q60 debut.

i have a friend going to the Geneva auto show so i'm anxiously awaiting that and his footage.

i wouldn't be suprised if they did the Z first so they can iron out the kinks and recalls before the release of the Q which makes this possibility practical.

my logic would be, lower production #'s means less recalls to deal with. the bigger seller (g35/37/potential q) will be better off waiting for the 'economical sporty' version sort itself out. but the other thing is with a lot of 'luxuries' in the infiniti line it could cause electrical issues.

that being said the weight issue... good luck getting under 3000 and be road legal. unless you want a miata. safety + electronics (luxuries like gps, powered seats, little blinkers, arse massagers, prostrate checker, breast lump examiner) will be start pushing it above the current weight of the current z34 fully loaded.

maybe the new 15'nismo design will be the new z35? i mean the concept q looked very similiar to the nismo whiskers... but that's all speculation.

Mazda did it. The ND Miata weighs LESS than the original NA Miata

:iagree: with the top part of your post about the recall and lower numbers thing. makes sense but probably not part of their thinking.

but the Miata is super tiny......and gay.

i'm good with low 3k pound area with the upgrade in power.

damian_mb 02-17-2015 01:15 PM

I'll believe it when I see it. Until then, taking this with a grain of salt. Not all Infiniti/Nissan reps has all the info on the next gen cars.

brucelidat 02-17-2015 01:21 PM

Can't really use the Miata as an example. They are totally different. The Miata is a small lightweight sports car that is a big seller and designed individually. The Z is more of a higher performance muscle sports car that doesn't sell enough to have its own platform and needs to share.
