If these are not already upgraded, then at the very least you should upgrade the CSC while you are doing the clutch job. The master and slave are both prone to failure. If you don't replace them at the same time as the clutch, they'll probably just fail after some time with your new clutch, and if it's the CSC you're dropping the transmission again to fix it. There's no reason to replace the rubber clutch line unless it's failing or you're replacing it with a SS line.

THey say is because the Clutch and Flywheel they would be installing is a high performance part that has been added to new Z's and GTR and so the Slave and Master Cylinder would have to be compatible.

:wtf: tell that shop to go fuck themselves with those prices and that explanation :shakes head: The master cylinder is OEM (there are no available aftermarket ones that fit without some level of modification right now). You can buy it for $100; no reason to pay a 69% markup on it.

Also, you have left out information, so people are making assumptions. What kind of parts are these? OEM? Aftermarket?

Also agree. That's replacing every clutch part right down to the fluid.
My guess for replacing with stock is a pressure plate, clutch plate, & throwout beating. Plus maybe four hours labor including the beer run.

Here is what I am been charged for the repair

1.) 9 Hours labor at 120 dollars hr - 1080
2.) Flywheel - 1084
3.) Clutch - 839
4.) Pilot Bushing - 6
5.) Master Cylinder - 169
6.) Slave Cylinder - 163
7.) Cable Line for M & S Cylinder - 47
8.) Brake Fluid - 60

Total - 3448

Lol, Thoughts?

So ... Stillen has a "high performance" aluminum flywheel AND clutch for under $1000. I have no idea if it is a good or bad set.

clutch and flywheel set

Less than half what your guy is charging. I agree with the rest ... run like the wind.

ShutokuZ 01-29-2015 04:55 PM

Can't speak about the Stillen flywheel quality, but the ACT pressure palte and disk is awesome. I used the ACT HD/SS (which this kit includes) on my Evo IX and loved it for Auto-X. It only firmed up the pedal feel slightly over stock, but not much to even notice. The engagement was really smooth and not much shudder. This pressure plater should hold up to around 420lbs TQ.

They will not do that install anything that its not theirs

Chuck33079 01-29-2015 10:13 PM

Then take it somewhere else. A$100 tow will save you $1000 or more.

Just looked online, that's all retail but the clutch. OE clutch is $750 retail, $613 discount.

They're just charging what nissan says. That being said aftermarket is WAY better and cheaper. You don't want this POS plastic part going back in just to fail do you?

Who cares? We have already established that shop is just ripping you off. If you use them, you're an idiot.

Ummm... not sure where you got your retail prices, but $160+ for the CMC and CSC is AT LEAST 20% markup over the dealer prices. And like 50% markup over the lowest prices on the web ($105-110 for either one). All of those parts are ridiculously overpriced. They also probably have incompetent low wage employees to keep that profit margin maximized. Fvck shops like that :shakes head:

Didn't look them all up but you can clearly see the links.
