No more PM's Car quotes should be Public
Ther are a lot of people looking to buy new Z's So why do we ask publicly, and the dealers send privately? This defeats the purpose of the forum. We are here together to communicate on all topics. Price is really important. I would rather see it publicly here rather than Edmunds. Thoughts?

You have a valid point, though. But when it comes down to working on pricing it's easier to do it in PM. There's no outside influence that could clutter up a quote thread as so often happens. |
and sometime, people DO get a special one time offer from a dealer that is looking to move a particular car due to time of month, cash flow, overstock etc. Any dealer on this forum will give you a good deal, they can't afford not to! However, it is still up to you to make a deal you are happy with...

An entire thread dedicated to prices of what others have paid. PMs are better because each deal is individually done and every person has different needs/wants. |
car dealerships are businesses. why would they go post their absolute lowest price on a public forum so that everyone and their mother can come in and say 'you charged x to this guy i saw it online' just to please some people on a forum.

Some car dealers post this information. For example: Broadway Chevrolet on the Corevette forums. They post their absolute lowest price for all to see and they are one of the top Corvette dealers in the US. Sometimes selling in volume over margin can earn you greater profits.

Personal finances and deals are a private matter. I don't want joe shmoe forum member knowing how my negotiations are going with a car dealer.
And when dealers have megadeals, they post them here, at least the ones who are recognized sponsors. |

I undrstand the need for privacy, but after the deal is done, I see a major beneift to others knowing. This is the beauty of the internet. There is a supply and a demand, and if there is an intelligent demand, then we get closer to a win-win situation. For the last 80 years people have been overcharged and in some cases ripped off by dealers. The consumer now has the upper hand. I am not saying dealers don't have a right to a fair profit, but why should I pay $5k more than you? I shouldn't. By collectively arming the demand side, the dealers will have to compete with other dealers openly and we will get to an equilibrium.
Thanks for the replies. Great conversation. |
My lowest prices on in stock cars are posted on my inventory page, locates and orders are handled privately!!!!

I can't help it I like to joke.
No, really I sign on under my alias and shop Fontana, and Koeppel. That way I know I will have the lowest price.....so if you pm me for a price you know it's going to be good. I've done all the shopping for you.....just kidding. I just think PM's are best because it makes it easier for everybody. I understand that you want prices just posted, but that won't include all fees, and expenses included in a deal. All so it's easier for me to get back to someone in a timely manner if they PM me instead of posting. I get alerted on phone by email when I get a pm. It just works out best for everybody. I'd rather give you better service...and for me that's through PM's. |
I agree with a few of you guys here that pms are the best way to go. Like what theDreamer said, due to privacy, availability, dealer objectives and every person has different needs/wants and the best way to handle that is to interact with each individual. Every dealer on this forum will make you a great deal! Like what Lou said, PM him and he'll give you a great deal but if you need a better deal than that pm me. Right Lou? LOL! :icon17: :icon17:
