Cayman S Exhaust

For the 3rd time seeing an Cayman S at full throttle and I have to say "DAM" those things sound friggin insane. First time I thought it was had a modified exhaust, but then I encountered another one that sounded the same, could be possible that there both modified, ok I can go with that too, but last night yet another one that sounded the same as well and we were toying around a bit on the highway and "OH MAN" that sound is epic.....................I was in my SRT8 and threw him a beating, but he definitely sounded better :) I want the loudest most obnoxious exhaust there is at full throttle for my car as my next mod. The fan favorite on here is the Fast Intentions by far and some of the exhaust clips I've heard seem to be on point for what I'm looking for, but I would love to hear one in person.

Making the VQ37VHR sound loud and obnoxious is really easy.

All you need is a wider than OEM diameter H or Y pipe, and straight, unresonated pipes all the way back. Expect all sorts of hisses, pops, rattles, rasps, and at least 100 db.

What's tricky is freeing up flow while not making the Z sound like a dying tractor...

Whoa, don't want it to sound like a fart can or weed wacker though. The Armytrix sounds insane And I'm looking at the usual suspects as well.

What you experienced is due to rear engine. The design, flow, short travel causes that epic, smooth, quick rev-to-exhaust note compliment. Nothing beats the sound of a rear engine car.

Motordyne or FI no other option my dude

I like the stock setup, but it's just too dam quiet. Will adding just Test Pipes make a significant sound to a stock Nismo exhaust?

JC I had the stock setup with ART pipes and it was not that much louder, the muffler really does it's job. You might want to consider AAM mid H pipe as well, but FI is the way to go, if not Motordyne as stated above. I also had an AAM exhaust, I liked its high pitch F1 sound.

If you mess with the cats with the stock nismo exhaust, expect rasp.

JC-Nismo 12-18-2014 02:43 PM

Ok so FI is the way to go, thanks Guys.

FWIW, I recommend take-off Nismo exhaust + resonated TP's (any, even ebay) or Nismo take-off + PPE headers.

Minimal rasp, deep tone, excellent gains, good bang-for-the-buck.

Note that I recommend against the Weldina (non-take off) Nismo exhaust. The one that comes on the OEM Nismo car is much better all the way around (e.g., quality, power, sound, cost).

+1 for Fast Intentions

+1 for FI

Berk HFC and FI non-resonated mufflers. That will be plenty loud, in fact it was too loud for me andI went back to the Berks and stock Nismo exhaust. Note that a V6 in the Z will never sound like a flat 6 in the Cayman or 911, no matter what you do.
