How well do you know the Nismo suspension system
So a website (complex.com) recently covered the debut of the 2015 Nismo and listed the new features of the model. The author wrote "...The four-wheel independent suspension has been retuned..."
Anyone care to explain what the difference is? |
All I found online was this tidbit: "Nissan has also retuned the suspension system, which includes a Nismo-emblazoned strut tower bar and a new pair of performance of dampers to go along with the Nismo's already uprated springs and sway bars compared to those fitted on the standard 370Z."
|
all nismos have had the same strut tower bar and yamaha tuned dampers front and rear.
I bet you there is ZERO difference in the 2015 nismo versus any of the other years suspension wise. do you see the circled areas? those two pieces are welded onto the nismo only strut bar. (whoop-ty do) http://www.the370z.com/members/fuct-...-strut-bar.jpg and this is the yahama tuned damper. there is one on the front and rear. http://www.the370z.com/members/equin...stabilizer.jpg |
Maybe they got rid of the dreaded bounce in the struts! They should have offered it with EDFC or even a manual 4 way adjustment for the common driver i.e. Track, Sport, comfort and touring specs like a coilover system to have the adjustments easy to reach on the top of the struts...
It was my least fav thing about the car on rough highways the car would bounce like a carnival ride lol |

some 4 way struts would have been awesome. |
Those were not progressive rate springs as I recall -- I liked them better than the regular Z springs, but were definitely a bit harsh.
Although, I know the regular Z has a different set up as of 2012 (or 2013?), so there might be some differences with the latest incarnations of the Nismo. |

Based on the description, they added a "Nismo" label to the front strut bar, which appears to be otherwise unchanged, and may have selected differently valved dampers to go with the same harsh, non-progressive rate springs.
EDIT: Correction. Maybe they made it more snazzy or something, but the "Nismo" label was apparently always on there. |
Marketing hype .................. pure and simple
