Looking for a Used Nismo....How Much Will They Come Off Their Price?

I'm starting the process of shopping for a used Nismo 370, and on AutoTrader I'm seeing a few "Price Reduced" on some listings. How much should I expect a dealer to come off their listed price once I get into the negotiating stage? Right now I'm just scouting what's out there and how fast they're moving. Really don't seem to be flying off the lots right now.

Secondly, is there any reason to shy away from an '09 Nismo vs a '10 or '11?

Thanks.

Nope no real reason to take a 09 vs 10/11. The 10 got a cabin air filter (which you can install in an 09 yourself, there is a DIY). Also the 11 or 12 got an oil cooler. So if you want to track it, then grab that one. Even with it, I heard you need an aftermarket for the really aggressive stuff.

The dreaded steering wheel lock could be an issue, but just get the work done before you drive it off the lot. It's a recall item and should be free, regardless of warranty.

I wouldn't buy a 2009 or something where I can't extend the power train warranty. With CSCs going out and engines consuming oil, I think the extra cost is worth the peace of mind.

Also, every year added is about $3k in devaluation (all else equal)

Agreed about the CSC going out. That terrifies me.

It might depend on how long the car is sitting on their lot. They will drop the price by thousands if they want to move the car. The car i bought was reduced by ~2k, and a friend of mine with a Nismo 370, got around 4k off, because he was being really aggressive with them (29k-25k). With a used Nismo you have leverage, because its an unusual car, and its the middle of winter.

That's what I'm thinking. The problem is I really can't pull the trigger until March. My winter leverage might be going away by then.

So............

If you plan on making modifications, a 2009 could be the ticket. Just understand that there were some finicky things going on since it was the first model year for the 370Z and the NISMO got some major revisions.

If you plan on enjoying the car mostly stock (or lightly modified) for some spirited driving or even just a sporty DD, go with a later model. The later the model, the more creature comforts and revisions were make.

Major revisions? Where have I been? The Nismo is the least changed model.

Over time they have added a fake oil cooler... And changed the colors (now 2 tone and dark wheels/red calipers, standard with the Sport package wheels too)... And now allow you to get Bose...

How much are you willing to spend. I have a 2013 nismo for sale with 90 percent of the car clear bra'd so no paint chips ever and it's got a lifetime warranty on the powertrain. It has 4000 miles on it and has been garage kept. FYI on the 2013.. it has the red calipers, gunmetal rays forged wheels, gtr brake Lines and brake fluid and oem oil cooler so it is the best year nismo in my opinion.

I had every problem that they fixed on the later models. Granted, they were fixed under warranty.........but they were a bit of a pain for a "new" car and I got mine with 6 mile on it.

honestly i dont think places want to negotiate much on nismo's. hell i was getting letters from my dealership asking to buy mine back from me $1000 over what the kelly blue book said was a fair price.

then again if you find one in the boon-docs where they dont know what they have they might give you a good deal.

a few months back i had a guy in my apt tell me to contact him when im ready to sell mine since he couldnt find any for sale....

Just get a '14 model, once the '15 model comes out next month there will be steep discounts they can be had for below invoice.

MattyA 06-03-2014 08:48 AM

I bought a '12 pw nismo a month ago and paid 29000 with 18500miles on it. I think it was a good deal
