If I was a one car owner, I'd have to go Evo - a car I quite like. I have a 4Runner for Home Depot runs, so for me the decision to get a 370Z was quite easy. There is the aura of 18-23 year old maleness that the Evo carries (which isn't necessarily a reasons for not buying something). I almost added a 3rd car to our "stable" (a mustang), but I decided that I like a sports car (sensu stricto) and not a sports sedan. That is a pivotal preference that you need to tackle. Other than being small, fast, and foreign (kinda like Jackie Chan), there isn't a whole lot of common ground between the two.

It's "ryda" lol
u need to drive an evo so u will know. I drove an evo X mr. Didn't like the paddle shifters but that's all they come with |

Ignoring the 4 doors vs two and all wheel drive vs two wheel drive, the main advantage of the Evo would be the potential for MUCH more power with a tune, given that it comes from the factory boosted.
On the other hand, I don't know how reliable they are relative to the Z... Also... FWIW Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X MR vs Nissan 370Z - FastestLaps.com |
You cannot go wrong with the Z...

Both cars are fantastic.
The 370Z wins the look and sport compact feel - the tight cockpit and controls looks and feels amazing. The FR layout is great if you want a proper sports car, with the ability to let the rear slip occassionally. The looks is fantastic, it's the hard working middle class vehicle, people will start noticing you with smiles and thumbs up, it makes you stand out. Some even consider it "the poor man's Porsche" but I beg to differ. The VQ engine is very reliable and easy to moderate to maintain. I'd get at least with the sport package. For the power, it's pretty torquey (turkey? lol), but some may say not enough. What you have to realize is modding this car is different, some folks will say it's pricey but what you need to be aware of is that it's a car of it's own level, parts will not be cheap regardless if it's JDM or replica, it has that exclusitivity feel. It is also the first standard production vehicle to have a rev match feature for manual transmission available in sport package. As for the Evo, it has tons of advantages as well - aside from the obvious 4 doors and a trunk, the All Wheel Drive system is extremely reliable and useful. The turbo 4 banger at stock will feel okay, as for features, it's a rally car equipped with Recaro seats, fancy tach, brembo brakes and BBS wheels from factory. The aftermarket support for this vehicle is ridiculous, anything you can think of is most likely available. Despite what I mentioned, this vehicle will not feel high end, this is feed back from my buddies who have Evo 8 and Evo 10. One thing I like about Evos, with an cold air intake, exhaust and tune, this thing can eat the Z alive any day regardless if it's street or track, the ponnies goes instantly above 500HP with those ample mods. And if that doesn't impress you, my buddy's Evo 10 can eat Lambos which I think is amazing and retarded at the same time. Carefully pick your poison, fantastic choices, completely different vehicles but both are amazing. Test drive both, for the Evo, Mistu has discontinued production I believe. These are merely my opinions, good luck with your pick! :tiphat: |

Wow I had no idea the Evo had that much potential, I still have to go with the z I wanted one before they were even 370s and I want it for the looks lol |
If you want a fast car that takes well to mods the EVO is the way to go. If you want a car with class go with a Z. Just understand, most people who buy Z's dont do so because they think they are a fast car. Most people buy them for the handling as well as a decent amount of giddy up. They are very well balanced cars.
If you buy a Z just understand it's going to take a good chunk of change if you decide it's not fast enough for you. Do lots of research on here first. Not just what people are saying in this thread. I hate to see people buy a Z and then be dissapointed. You have to have a love for a 2 seat RWD car to properly appreciate a Z. |

And yes Evo might be faster in the straight line. But the Z would be more fun taking corners. AWD just don't like drift as much as a RWD.;) |

And you should buy the Z simply because Mitsus break like it's their job. |

I had this same debate...A few reasons I went with the Z
1. Nissan wins the reliability edge, regardless of our common issues, read around the net, horsepower is no fun when your car is falling apart...IMO 2. Coupes just scream sports car, and the Z is more rare. 3. Feels more like a sports car IMO 4. Interior quality and design I give the edge to the Z 5. RWD is more fun to goof off with, I am not a racer, its an enthusiast car. 6. I bought mine used and for under 40k I will have a fully modded 500 whp car that will take care of 90% of other street cars. I still like the EVO, but its not all about the HP for me, which made the Z my decision. |
My opinion is looks wise, 370,
driving wise, do you like to your car? or do you like the car to drive for you? I personally like to drive my cars, hence why i chose the 370 over the EVO |
