Check Engine Light

Had check engin light come on after getting oil change here in Melbourne at Nissan. They said all checked out ok. And they ordered a gas cap? Thats what the factory said to do if they dont find anything wrong. Has eanyone had this happen? Wondering if this is leading to something eles that they dont want to admit to for now.

Get the code it's throwing and do a search here on the forum.

It’s hard to say a code is a general idea of what it can be not exactly what it is. Faulty gas caps can cause a check engine light. But my understanding is that the dealer if being covered under warranty will try and trouble shoot the cheapest possible cause/fix before really coming out of pocket.

Code p0546 small evap leak. They pressure tested and they said nol eak found. Ordered fuel cap per bulletin. That's what on the paper. So I will have a new cap.that should add 20 Hp I hope.

Gas cap replacement are usually associated with a large evap leak not small.

I just changed my oil and had the cel come on. The oil level was in the middle of the dipstick, so I filled it until it got to the upper hole, put the cap back on and made sure it was tight and started my car and the light didn't come back on. Not sure what the problem was but I'm glad the light is off.
