(Can't imaging it costing more than $200) Done deal |
Trade with someone? Most people would trade you and pay you for the suspension bits. You could make a couple hundred bucks.
Adding a supercharger and having it installed would be around 8k correct?
Which supercharger? Your number seems a little low considering the amount of supporting mods you need to do the build right. Hell, some of the supercharger kits alone are pretty close to the 8k mark.
6200 plus the install for a stillen. Are there others out there that will perform just as good for 3 to 5k?
Stillen seems to be the most popular and good performance. Im not sure what that 0 to 60 would be or how much torque it would give me.
No, but the Stillen kit is by far the least bang for your buck you can find. The "662hp" Stillen kit had a lot more done to it than just the kit, I'll wager. GTM makes some better SC kits. Are you dead set on a SC? GTM has a MHI turbo kit that's fairly reasonable. A budget of 3-5k is just not enough for the total build.

GTM seems to be the most popular. Fast Intentions just recently finished up with their TT and it looks clean.
I would go with any SC or Turbo kit. I want to make the car 0-60 in the low 4 sec range and have crazy torque aka.. make it feel like a monster like my old corvette. Soooo 10k my budget better be im guessing lol
If it's torque you want, you want turbos. The GTM MHI kit is in your price range, but budger another few thousand for the supporting mods. Then install and tune. If you get out under 10k I'd be shocked. Set aside more than than that so you don't have to cut corners. 0-60 might actually be slower than stock since you can't really launch it as well.

Also, lowering the 0-60 is not just about slapping on a SC or TT. You will need to look at tires and suspension, and work on learning to balance the power with the cars dynamics.
The only mod that's going to make more than a tenth of difference is going to be a set of DOT radials or slicks. A boosted Z is hard to launch without leaving a nice long 11 on the pavement.

LULED at this one. no the nismo is not slower. Ive raced countless base and sport 370z stock with my stock nismo and havent lost yet. both around a track and down a drag strip. the only ones I have issues with in the 1/4 is the damn automatics, those ARE faster but not so much around a regular course. not to turn this into a regular V nismo thread.... cough cough. Also ive owned a sport and 2 nismos...... trust me, they are faster. But its not going to compare to a C6 vette thats just silly, HP is...... similar, but torque numbers are going to make the Z feel sluggish. a stock C6 vette is what.... 400 if i remember, and they run the quarter not much faster than a Z does. read up on what HP and torque actually ARE. torque is the work an engine can do, HP is an equation of work over time. at 5252 rpm torque and hp converge, if your engine makes its peak power under this RPM band it will ALWAYS have more torque than HP, if it makes it OVER that, it will ALWAYS have more HP than torque. Its a mathematical impossibility otherwise. a more torque car will always "feel" faster, but a car with more overall HP will always get the job done faster, because again its work done over time. then weight is a factor and blah blah blah you get the picture, go look it up. its complicated. If you want that mad pull into your seat, FI your car, or get a big nasty V8 and suffer the crappy car usually attached to them as a consequence lol. |
The Elise is not slow. 0 to 60 4.5. Its not vette fast but not slow.
Why do you guys feed the troll? Ignore and it will disappear...
A stock C6 has 430hp/424trq and weighs a little less than the Nismo. 80 hp is a little more than a slight difference. Of course the Nismo is going to feel slow in comparison. A base C6 can run high 11s with a good driver.
oh i thought it was only 400. at the crank. thats not TOO much more, but yeah we have all seen that 600hp Z on here get spanked by a porche with only 80 or so more hp so i guess it does make a huge difference.
At least a second faster in the 1/4, and they handle very well. The inside is atrocious, but from a performance standpoint a base C6 is a lot more car than any stock Z, base or Nismo. It's the average Vette owner that's the problem.
Just my 2 cents, I test drove a Nismo Z and a C6 Z06 back to back. Literally got out of one and into the other one. Yes, the Vette was faster but I walked away more impressed with the Nismo. There's more to a sports car than just horsepower.
My mind was made up and I was going to get a Nismo, then I made the mistake of test driving a tuned up/modified C5 Z06. What a beast that thing was. Literally a race car that was street legal. Then I stopped by the Texas Corvette Club's annual get together - felt like I was at an AARP meeting! I'm so confused! By the way, anyone want to buy a nice Maxima?!?!?! |
Y'all realized op hasn't even been back to this thread?
As always, a stupid thread like this gets more attention than the truly knowledge enhancing threads....can we be mature and learn not to feed trolls? Don't need to sign on to the370z.com to defend our purchases of 370z's...that's just moronic. Let this die already |
amen

Goodbye thread.
