Funny encounter with an STI!!!
So my fiance and I took a cruise to the opposite side of town yesterday, and I thought I'd share this quick story with everyone. As we were on the highway during rush hour, I noticed a car weaving through traffic behind me. Turns out it was an STI, and he approached us hoping for a race. He kept revving his engine and speeding up little by little hoping that I'd follow suit, but several times I told him no. His persistence, and my patience, got him a nice surprise, though... After one last time of revving his engine, red and blue lights began to flash right behind him, and sirens became audible! I couldn't stop laughing for the rest of the drive! Drive with due regard for others, guys. It could save you a ticket; especially during rush hour!:happydance:

What a loser... I bet he probably felt dumb after lol

ROFL. I get rednecks in big trucks looking for a run or a miscellaneous head sticking out of the window eye raping my car or experiencing an eargasm.

Sounds like he got what he deserved.
Good job resisting and not letting him show that the STi is quicker. :) |

Hahaha that's too funny. STi got clowned.

Also a cat deleted 370Z's exhaust is not any better than a DPF deleted diesel exhaust, the only difference is you can see the diesels. :tiphat: |

Are we done naming things that each vehicle wasn't made to do? lol |
Trucks aren't meant to be raced. End of discussion :P damn rednecks with their stupid jacked up trucks! >.<
|
lol

It was probably one of the guys on this forum that jump ship for a better car and wanted to show you how fast it is!
Smart move on your part! |

Where is sports in truck when I clearly see it in sports car? It took a Viper Motor for a truck to run similar numbers of today's sports cars. Take that in for a moment. A VIPER motor... Use a truck to do truck things, use a sports car to do sports car things.
|
Well, to be fair, drag racing on the highway is a truck thing around here :). Every day I see so many gargantuan overpowered trucks driving like crazy on the paved highway in Houston. My Z has more mud and scratches on it than some of these trucks, so I know they're not hauling wood on their ranch or whatever. Gets parked every night in the suburbs and commutes to downtown every morning :P The best are the ones that are on a huge lifted-up suspension, but have shiny ghetto rims and low-profile tires. That's gonna work out great if you ever have to drive off-road, yeah.

Maybe a gas truck. A Duramax with minor mods (A tune and lift pump) can run into the low 13s and some even break into the 12's. This however cannot be sustained without a trans, but once that is done they can run mid 12's all day long. Compare those numbers to a stock 370Z's. I own my own business in custom tuning these things, with simple bolt ons (exhaust, and lift pump) they can push 500+ RWHP. What doesnt help them is they weigh upwards of 7000 lbs. That however means very good traction off the line which accounts for the low (relatively) 1/4 times. These same trucks also get 20+ mpg on the highway. :hello: |

Here is a picture of me (left) dialing in the truck. The mods at the time were
Tune Transmission Lift Pump (inline fuel pump) No exhaust intake or anything else. This was not my quickest run that day though, I did run 13.05 towards the end of the day. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...co39/Race3.jpg |
One of the less-ridiculous examples of what I'm talking about, from spending 5 mins on GIS: http://i41.tinypic.com/2eaouhk.jpg

I had a turbo diesel truck try and race my Z and when I beat him he got pissed off!! Sorry, but I think trucks are made to hall things.. not race.
I sold mine cause they are just not me!! I love driving the Z, got bored driving the truck. |

Story puts a smile on my face. Many of those STI drivers are obnoxious less than smart ... Nice cars though. :ugh2:

lol, again bringing up points about using something it was not designed to do. If you make a truck to go fast in a straight line, then that is what it is designed to do. Arguing about using it for something else and it not being quick is a moot point. These trucks are lowered with traction bars to eliminate wheel hop, tire pressure is lowered. Nothing about them is modded to help it make a turn at 120mph. Hell for that matter you could say the same thing about 6 second funny cars, "Well yeah its fast, but I could beat it around a track". Trucks are good for whatever you make them to be, albeit drag racing, towing the boat/camper (or up in Alberta both at the same time), off roading ect. Mine is a good winter daily driver, 4wd and a bunch of torque and its a blast to drive in the winter. Its something that even if I wanted to I couldn't drive the Z. If you make the Z into a drift car then you're not going to be the quickest in the 1/4 mile, because simply your car is not setup to do that. I realize that this is probably a losing battle on a forum like this, but hey I need something to do at work. haha |
Valid argument, it may not be the most effective tool, but a tool nonetheless. I prefer to use a steak knife to cut my steak. Bad@ss truck BTW

im sorry but the 4 door silver subi a few posts above is ugly. i respect its performance and quality parts but i want it all or at least good performance and kiler looks. the car above looks tacked together like each section of the body was built and designed by different companys. no flowing lines, no sexyness, no thanks........
look at the muscular sexyness below..... ;) http://www.the370z.com/members/fuct-...ure28876-a.jpg i dont know how to spell sexyness. |

I think what makes the STI sedan cool is form following function . . . quad exhaust on a 4 cylinder car :driving:

With more torque and AWD of the STi, I use it almost daily and the Z doesn't get out of my garage more than once a week. But when I do drive the Z, it's great to enjoy the qualities of a true sports car. The STi has a sub-par interior, sucky steering, wimpy clutch feel, and miscellaneous design flaws. |

I'd say the two cars you have represent the best Japan has to offer, but in two different forms. Subaru's high-performance Utility and Nissan's gorgeous design and powerful drive-train. |

I'm not really understanding why he got pulled over for revving his engine. I didn't know that was against the law. The guy may have been a douche but it sounds like the cop was an even bigger douche |
