Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

I bought my 2010 Nizmo in March 2010. I'm due for tires in the very near future. Upon checking with a local tire discounter I was told that the TMPS for all 4 wheels had to be replaced! I think it a load of horse-crap...anybody else run into this situation or am I sorely mistaken?

I'm very likely to purchase either the Hankook tires or with the Continentals from The Tire Rack in the hope that the tires will help lower the dB's. Your feedback on the selection is most welcome. Thanks gang:driving:

Replace the TPMS...bullocks I tell you!

Regards
Steve

You don't need to replace them.

Absolute crap. The only that should be replaced is the seals for the TPMS. About $5 per wheel.

As is typical of discount tire places, they are trying to "upsell" you.

Recycle and Re-use my good sir!

TPMS sensors should last for many years. Not the life of the vehicle, thats for sure, but atleast 5 years and up to 10 years in my experience. You only need replacement if one were to fail prematurely or if one is damaged during tire install. Hope this helps

they have to be recalibrated. discount tire charges $10 a wheel.
