I went from the original oil that came with the car to mobile 1 full synthetic. I notice that car feels better and the oil temps are about 10-15 degrees lower in the same conditions.

you cannot take the opperating temps during break-in as accurate numbers. ive used ester every change. im at 23k miles now. my temps consistantly get lower, as in i havnt seen the 240degrees i did when i got it. even in the texas heat down here i feel each oil change the motor feels better and better.

they say you can use full synth but it wont adhear to the diamond polished heads we have...... seems pretty important to keep them as cool as possible on an engine that is hot already.

..... im now having doubts about my special ester oil.... hmmmmm

damn you oil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

lotta oil threads again lately it seems.

Anyway, I broke the car in on what it came w/from the factory. At 1500 miles changed to Nissan's ester oil. At 5K, installed oil cooler and changed to Mobile1 0w-40 w/mobile1 oil filter.

If you change your oil every 3K or so, then it's not as big a deal to run dino oil (which is fine for the Nismo, or any Z for that matter). If you track the car/and or want to run longer service intervals, then use a good synthetic.

i guess everyone else just knows better than they do.

Or maybe the engineers only ran Ester in the VQ? Possible. People are just putting down what oils they have and what temps they get. A better source of info would be for these people to put their oil brand, temp, and how they drive. Because with the way I drive the oil gets to 240-245 in TX very easily. But I can drive normal and it'll stick at 220. And it's also been all the way up to 270. Too many variables and not enough info lol.

you guys should read the g37 forums. theres a HUGE thread on oil analysis done there with hundreds of different results. i believe mobil1's fully synth doesnt fare too well with our engines....hence why i strayed away this time. im using pennzoil ultra fully synth since i saw nothing but good things on the oil analysis done on this particular oil. $27 for a 5 quart jug at walmart too!

:iagree: Just finished reading the entire thread. Im running redline now but will probably be hitting up the Pennzoil Ultra on the next go round. I did previously run mobil 1 and the temps where down but the oil consumption was alot higher though.

Well, my NISMO wsa stock engine-wise before I left. Civilized driving TX heat, would net between 215-220 oil temp in stop and go traffic. Spirited driving would net anywhere from 240 or higher, depending on how long I pushed it. I would usually back off once I noticed the was over 230. That was all with Mobil 1 5W30. I had no issues with oil consumption though, but I guess I should track it myself instead of the dealer.

Once my TTs are installed and I get the car back, she will get 10W40 for a little better oil breakdown resistance. I am still debating the Setrab 34 Row or the massive AE Performance cooler though.

Any kind of oil cooler is a must in Texas during the Summer if you are a spirited driver like me. My temps are almost always around 240 and getting even more spirited on the highway I've seen upwards of 260-270. I just hate seeing it go that high which is why I'm going to buy a bang for the buck oil cooler.

Can someone please post this G37 forum link?
