Possible Nismo Buyer With A Question
13 Attachment(s)
Hello Everybody,
I really want to buy a Nismo real soon and be able to take it out for some track day fun. I'd like to bring along some dedicated track rubber, some tools, canopy, etc. I know it's blasphemy, but I'd like to pull along a lightweight utility/tire trailer. There's a guy who made hitches for the 350Z (see below), but not sure if they're still available. Then there's a guy who makes hitches for various Porsches: Willwood System - Porsche Hitches and Bike Racks My concern is whether or not the Cayman hitch would possibly work on the Nismo. Has anybody had their rear bumper cover off and taken some photos of the bumper bar? I just want to see iff there is a way to mount the hitch behind the license plate the way they can on the Cayman. I realize the ballmount may need to be reworked with different geometry for the Nismo, but that's a relatively minor concern. First, I gotta get an idea if the thing will even fit. The Nissan dealer I've been talking to won't remove the bumper cover for me to take a look. Imagine that! Pics 1-4 are the 350Z hitch. The rest of the pics are the Porsche hitches. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Don't hate me because I want to put the square peg in the round hole! lol Zed-er |
Check the owner's manual, which is on here as a pdf file -- it should have that info in there somewhere, and I'm sure whatever it says applies to both regular Z and Nismo.

I don't know of you coul mount the hitch that high, but here a shot of the Nismo and a Z chassis without the bumper.

Your pic 5 is of a 370Z, but the Nismo doesn't have the butt hole so you would need some minor adjustments to use that setup.

370Z Hitch questions
Quote:
I had already printed out all pages of the Service Manual relating to the rear bumper, but the exploded views were inconclusive. It's difficult to see if the rear bumper bar passes directly behind the rear license plate. Judging by the rear photo of the PW Nismo, it sure looks like it would, but I'm just not certain. Can anyone confirm? Thanks, Zed-er |

The bumper mounting points are the same as where the rotisserie is attached in the photo. It's still difficult to see if the bumper is behind the license plate.

I think the answer is to do away with the oem exhaust and get rid of that huge muffler across the back directly below the bumper bar. Then I could go with basically the same setup as on the 350Z.
Any thoughts from the experts? zed-er |
Someone on here has a hitch for a trailer for his tires. I dont think its a Nismo tho. If come across him again I'll let you know his name.

Found him. Go to the all albums then search the albums using the word trailer. His name is mike and its a yellow 370z.
